fire station field trip~

today was our field trip to the fire station with mom school. cullan was super excited. i even found a shirt for him that was on clearance last night that was only a dollar. it had a fire truck on it that lights up. he thought it was also very cool.
so today we all met at one of the local fire stations. the kids seemed to be excited and got to see where the fire men cooked and studied all the streets in our town. then we got to the best part.
THE FIRE TRUCKS!!!

this is cullan standing in front of one of the trucks!
he was very impressed with all their gear and helmets!it was very cute. cullan was really struggling with not being able to touch all the cool things on the fire truck. the temptation was more than he could handle. =)
then one of the firemen put on all the gear and showed the kids what they do when there is a call .

this fireman was very nice. they explained that they had to put on all their gear and that if you ever saw someone in your house dressed like this to not be afraid, but that they were there to help. cullan thought this guy was great, and he was really friendly.

cullan asked to have his picture taken, but i only got him giving the guy a high five. this is another little boy that wanted his picture taken too!

next they got to see a fireman slide down the poll. cullan watched as they did it twice. then he immediately turned to me and said "CULLAN TURN"!! of course they were to small, but they were able to go over and look at it.first look and then of course attempt!

then we were pretty much done. we got a group shot of almost everyone in front of the fire trucks.

all in all it went pretty well. however i was a little disappointed. when i scheduled the field trip they said the kids would be able to get on the trucks, receive hats and coloring books, and would also watch a fire safety video. none of which happened. they would not even turn on the lights for the kids. i guess it does not matter because the kids will never know that they missed anything, but it makes me sad because i know the kids, especially cullan would have loved it. oh well, still a fun field trip!

It was totally ok. I have been there 3 times andeach was a little different. Good thing they are only 3 and chances are they will get a few more attempts and more extras. Thanks for the trip.

I love going to the FD. I think it's great how they let you on the truck and look around. My kids love it. And what a deal on your Thomas Bubbles! I love finding little things like that, especially when they keep my kids super happy!

Looks like they all had a good time regardless.

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
