last day at mom school

kael had his last day of mom school last Tuesday. it was fun and sad at the same time. he has really enjoyed mom school this year and the friends that he has made. he still talks about them since we have moved and asks when they will be coming over to play. i just wanted to post a few pictures from the day.
the kids played a life size version of candy land. it was really fun and then they got to color some pictures. kael wanted to bring cupcakes for the last day, so we did. Briea got to eat a turkey sandwich instead. oh well, she is still super cute doing it.

Watercolor!

In an effort to de-clutter, especially before an impending move, I have decided to start scanning the boys work and save some of it on here. of course I will save some special things in a box I have for them, but since I am using our blog as almost a family journal, i thought this would work just fine.
so to start off my efforts, here is some of kael's watercolors from MOM SCHOOL today.
We learned about the letter W. Wiggle Worms get to be painted with Watercolors!
Here is Kael's Worm. 2/2010Here is an extra one that Kael wanted to do.And one more. He really likes to paint.

Mom School Valentines

Tuesday Kael had his Valentines Day party with his Mom School friends. It had been postponed from earlier due to weather. Kael was pretty excited and I think he had a pretty good time! Here they are working on their Valentines Day Bags.they each got some fun stickers to decorate their bags with. Kael loved putting his stickers on.here are some of the finished bags!K-man having some Valentines Day cookies as a snack. I took this picture and said "are you having fun at your party?" This is what I got....I guess i embarrassed him in front of all his friends!
oh well, their are worse things that can happen than your mom asking you if you are having fun.
on a whole other note. Briea loves babies. She REALLY loves them.
so much so, that they usually don't love her back!
poor girl, she just wants to give them hugs and kisses.

mom school....round two~

with the school year starting so starts another year of mom school. kael has been so excited that it is finally his turn to do SOMETHING! he watches cullan get to go do everything first and so when it is his turn he can hardly stand it.
this year we are doing things a little differently. we are only meeting once a week instead of twice. that is ok with me because it leaves some time open for just kael, briea and i to go do some fun things together.
today was actually our second time meeting. today the kids learned about the letter B. they read a story about Bunnies, had frozen Banana's dipped in yogurt and sprinkles.
while the big kids did all this fun stuff, Briea hung out with her little friend. Mr. A was born just a few days behind her.
she is such a good baby. she just hangs out and plays. i am really lucky. after their snack the kids went outside to Blow Bubbles! that is always a hit.
kael blowing away!miss C is so cute. mr. N was showing everyone how to balance on the parking things. i am drawing a blank as to their names.here are T & A practicing their balancing skills also. here is Mr. E with his bubble pipe. he was so funny. he would fill it up and then bubbles would just shoot everywhere.
i am grateful that there are moms that i can do this with. kael really enjoys it and talks about it all the time.

tot time~

so this year we did not have enough kids old enough to do mom school, so we decided to do something else.
we meet once a week and work on a letter of the alphabet. we might do a craft, activity or story.
today was the first day.
kael was so excited. he got his back pack and everything.
i taught today and we learned about the letter A. no i did not plan his shirt but i did work it into my activity. we talked about words that started with the letter A and then painted with apples!
i think the kids had a good time!
here is kael on his first day.
he is getting to be such a big kid.

impromptu~

-PART ONE-
the other day we were supposed to go on a field trip to a dairy farm. well it got canceled. the boys were all sad and disappointed. they really wanted to see some cows and chickens. so garran and i tried to come up with something else to do. first we decided to go to a local museum that we have been to a couple times in the past. we did not spend very long there because there was also a school field trip there.

garran and kael checking out some snakes.i dont know what cullan thought about this. he just kind of starred at it for a while.the boys checking out some wilderness.little miss just enjoying the view!

-PART TWO-

it was raining out so we decided to take the kids to chuck e cheese to just let them play some games. they always love it and we dont to it very often. so we went and got some tokens and just played some games for a while.

daddy and the boys killing some spiders.

kael riding the roller coaster game. he would only raise one hand going up the hill. i thought it was cute!

at the end it all worked out. we are sad we missed the dairy farm but maybe we will just have to plan our own little trip out there sometime!

our story

My photo
Midwest, United States
I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."

-President Gordon B. Hinckley
