attacked

tonight the young women from our church "heart attacked"our door.
i could hear something out side but figured i would let it be.
when i opened the door, this is what i saw!!

t-ball

we signed the boys up for t-ball this summer and they are over the moon.
they keep asking if it is time to meet their coach or the other kids on their team.
so, due to the excitement, we found a t-ball set and have been taking advantage of this nice weather to start practicing with them.
 Kael with his glove on his head.
 garran giving kael some tips.
 Ayla wanted to try too.
Both the boys really enjoy playing in the back yard and i think will really enjoy playing t-ball!
i can't wait. pictures to come.
lots of fun!!

honesty

today i picked cullan up from school.
upon walking out the door, cullan looks up at me and says...
"mom, you stink!"
he said it just loud enough for all the other parents to hear, which i appreciated.
then i said to him, "no cullan, that is the fertilizer that the farmers put on the fields that surround your school!".
I tell ya. Sometimes your kids now how to make you feel loved!

Proud Mama!

I am so proud of my little fella tonight.
I had his parent teacher conference tonight.
It went so well. Every time I meet with Cullan's teacher, she says what a great friend he is to the others in his class. That he is an awesome student and doing great. She always tells me that she thinks Cullan is an old soul in a young body. She says that he says the most adult things. (not in a bad way) Just he has an advanced vocabulary and phrases things more like an adult would.
She said Cullan is a joy to have in her class and that she will be sad when he moves on to first grade. She told me that he provides her with a daily laugh at least.
It makes me so happy that he is progressing well with his education and that he is a kind boy that is a friend to others. I could not ask for a better report!!

so here it is....
"WELCOME HOME..WE LOVE YOU"

green fun

i was originally going to do this as a thank you gift but then decided at the last minute that it would be fun to do it for the ladies that i visit teach.
i don't do stuff like this every month, but i have to admit i enjoy it when i do!
let me just say that i love the dollar section at target!!
i found these cups and ribbons that just happened to match perfectly.
then i grabbed a pair of green st patty's socks and a candy bar.
then i wrote on the tag, "we are so happy to be PAIRED with you!"
then i  signed it from myself and Michele, the other lady that goes with me.
i thought they turned out cute.
hopefully they enjoyed them.
hope everyone had a fun st. patty's day!!

toothpaste!

so i hate when toothpaste gets all over everything in the bathroom.
it is sort of a pet peeve of mine.
i saw this idea on pinterest and i thought, why not!
so i went to Wally World and picked up this bottle thing for $1.50.
Then I wrote tooth paste on it and Garran did the art work.
 here is to hoping that putting the tooth paste in here, and having the kids squirt a little on their tooth brush will help with finding toothpaste on the toilet seat lid or on the counter, or walls!!
either way, I am only out a $1.50.
here's to hoping it works!

one of my favorites

The day is past and gone;
 The shadows of the evening fall;
 The night is coming on!
 Within my heart a welcome Guest,
 Within my home abide.
 O Savior, stay this night with me;
 Behold, ’tis eventide!
 O Savior, stay this night with me;
 Behold, ’tis eventide!
 Abide with me, ’tis eventide!
 Thy walk today with me
 Has made my heart within me burn,
 As I communed with Thee.
 Thy earnest words have filled my soul
 And kept me near Thy side.

O Savior, stay this night with me;
 Behold, ’tis eventide!
 O Savior, stay this night with me;
 Behold, ’tis eventide!

Abide with me, ’tis eventide!
 And lone will be the night,
 If I cannot commune with Thee,
 Nor find in Thee my light.
 The darkness of the world, I fear,
 Would in my home abide.

O Savior, stay this night with me;
 Behold, ’tis eventide!
 O Savior, stay this night with me;
 Behold, ’tis eventide!

anniversary...of sorts.

I am always surprised at how much this day sticks with me and how I always seem to remember it.
To read the full story, you can click this LINK, and it will take you to the post.
I think that some people might not understand just how serious this night was or how tragic it could have turned out.
However, I can tell you, that when those firefighters carbon monoxide detectors started going off before they even got to our apartment, it was so scary.
Our furnace was the problem and given 30 more minutes, we would all have been gone.
The levels were already deadly when the fire department arrived.
Luckily we had the sense to turn of the heater when our detector was going off.
I remember walking in the boys room and seeing them snuggled on the top bunk together, and right above their head was a vent, pumping out carbon monoxide. I could tell by the way that Garran quickly grabbed them off the bed and rushed them out to sit in the van that we both had the same thought. And it was terrifying and heart breaking all at the same time.
Briea had just turned a year old a few days before and I had just found out I was pregnant with Ayla. It could have wiped out our whole family. Had my good friend Christi not really pushed for me to get a carbon monoxide detector for our apartment. That was the best $20.00 I have ever spent.
Carbon Monoxide is silent and deadly. It has no taste, no smell and you can not see it. That is what makes it so dangerous.  If you do not have one, PLEASE GET ONE.
It would be devastating to lose someone you love or your whole family when it could have been prevented with such a simple tool.
It makes me sick to think of how differently that night could have turned out and I count my blessings all the time that our family was spared.

nails.

briea got these little press on nails.
she was over the moon.
I could not get them on fast enough for her.
 she wore them for about 20 minutes before they started to pop off.
she is such a girly girl. she asked me if we could find some more for her.
she was so funny walking around with these on.
at least i know that i will have a manicure buddy when she gets older.

B Bug is 3!!

Well today our Briea Bug turned 3!!
We celebrated her birthday on Saturday so that we could do some fun stuff and have time to enjoy each others company instead of having to rush.
 Her is Miss B in her Birthday out fit. Princess skirt, ribbon, magic wand and crown!
 they ladies at Hy-Vee put B's cake in this pretty princess box. Briea was over the moon!
we decided to have a birthday lunch due to schedule stuff.
so we did lunch and then opened presents.
 Kael gave Briea a necklace and a bunny.
she liked it.
 Cullan gave her a necklace and a brush with a mirror.
 she really liked it. this was not even a prompted kiss. I just happened to snap it just in time. I thought it was so sweet.
then she opened a gift from my parents. she got a lady bug lunch box with princess jewels and a purse inside!
 I wish I could of captured how excited she was. She was so excited about everything.
 She also got a Dora Pillow.
(Ayla got a hold of it after Briea opened it, and has yet to really release it from her grip. Briea has been pretty patient for the most part)
 Then onto our gift.
We got her dress up close from pinkalicious and a book to go with it.
 here she is in all her princess gear.
 then it was time for cake!! Briea's eyes were silver dollar size when she saw this cake.
 Briea's cake.
 Ayla, all partied out. She crashed after the cake.

we had a really good time, just spending the day together. i think briea had fun at her party.
we are so thankful to have briea as part of our family. She is a super sweet and amazing little girl.
Happy Birthday to our sweet girl! We love you bunches!!

our story

My photo

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
