ROBBED!

Yes.. this time last week, actually to the hour.. we had strangers in our home. They broke in while we were at church. They climbed in through the boys bedroom window and let themselves out through the patio door. They took multiple things.. but what hurt the most was our big computer that had all of my children's baby pictures on it. It makes me sick to think of all those memories.. just gone.
When someone breaks into your home, they don't just rob you of your things.. they rob you of so much more. They rob you of that sense of peace and security that you are supposed to feel while you are in your home. This last week has been hard for me. I have not been sleeping well at night. Every time the dogs bark or I think I hear a noise, my eyes seem to shoot open with some kind of incredible force. No matter how tired I am, they open.. and then I feel that I can not go back to sleep until I check on the kids and the house. I seriously hate that feeling.. It is miserable.
Last night was the worst. I woke up multiple times and then had a nightmare that someone had come in and taken Ayla. I jumped out of bed to go check on her. I ran to her room and she was not in her bed, then I ran to the living room because sometimes the kids will kind of sleep walk out there and crash on the couch. She was not there either. I hit the boys room and at this point was starting to feel sick. I mean, the dream was so vivid. It felt so real. So I ran back to our room to wake Garran up and tell him that I could not find her, only to walk in and see her laying in the bed right next to where I had been.
My heart about sank to my stomach.
I hope this feeling goes away soon. I hate feeling the need to panic at every little sound. I don't wish being robbed on anyone.. I am hopeful we will get our things back due to the fact that we had serial numbers for most of the items and they got finger prints....but maybe that is just wishful thinking. I have yet to even hear from a detective, so we will see.

Magical Zebra!

So this sleepy little girl came to me in a very sleep voice, and said..
"Look mom.. I am a magical Zebra.. See my stripes!!"

I had a birthday...

shout HOORAY!
I still can't believe this is what my kids were wearing on my birthday this year.
NOVEMBER 18th.
They were in shorts, flip flops. In Heaven we were!
For part of my birthday, Garran took a half day at work and surprised me by coming home early.
Then we took the kids to pick out an ornament like we do every year.
Then we came home.
Put up the Christmas decorations...
(as this is our family tradition)
When Garran and I were first married we were beyond poor and so without a gift, Garran came up with the one thing for my birthday that he knew would make me happy.
We put up the Christmas decorations.
So ever since then, the Christmas stuff goes up on the weekend of my birthday!
Next we had dinner.
Ribs.
Briea was so funny. She actually didn't eat very much of the ribs, but this picture cracked me up!
Cullan and his obsession with ketchup on his mashed potatos!
And then it was time for cake.
Well this is what happens when you are a busy mom, it is your birthday and you don't feel like or have time to make your own cake.
It was either Duck Dynasty or a cake with a very large turkey on it.
I opted for Duck Dynasty.
It was a big hit with the kids.

Ayla of course loved the cupcakes.
She is so sassy with her chocolate beard!
Of course I had to sport a little Duck Dynasty bling from my cake!
All in All it was a pretty good 33rd birthday.
Here is looking forward to another year and to everything it holds in store.

A Scout.

Well, with the age of 8 comes all sorts of fun things.
Now we have a scout!
And if I do say so myself...Avery cute one.
We sure love this boy and are proud of all the things that he does!

Chop Chop Chop

So Briea decided to give her self a hair cut. Bangs and Layers.
Who knew she went to beauty school at the ripe old age of 4.
So we went to a friend to get it fixed.
This picture makes me feel old because I used to baby sit the girl doing B's hair when she was 3 or 4.
YIKES!

 Ayla was completely out.
She was so tired, she was sleeping with her eyes half open.
CREEPY!

New Do!
After a few hours of playing.
Guess I will have to get used to the bangs.
Oh i hope this doesn't happen again.
Thanks Alex for fixing my girl!

How i found her.

Passed out.
In Hello Kitty bathing suit bottoms.
Covered in Band-Aids.
Laying on a Laundry Baskets and Clean blankets.
What am I going to do with her?

So it happened again...

Our house has been very fertile lately.
First our guinea pigs
then...
our pups.
Our sweet little Layla gave birth two 6..Yes 6 puppies.
They have all been named but will not all be staying with us.
We have:
Moo Moo
Zazzy
Julio
Snappy
Travler

They are all very sweet and soft. Very cuddle worthy and get lots of love from everyone in our house!

slow down.

Please time....slow down.
She is my baby. She still needs to be soft and squishy and baby-ish.
Not growing and sassy and big.
I love her more than words, even though she is so Naughty!!
I just need the hands of time to slow down..... a little.

First Day of School.

How is this possible. A second and a first grader???
Where has the time gone.
Where are my babies.
Instead I have these two... Ready to rock out in a new school year.
This time they are starting school in NC.
I can hardly believe my kids are going to be growing up here.
 My big 1st grader.
 My big 2nd grader.
 My whole crew.
The girls were really excited about dropping the boys off at school and seeing their classrooms. After all, Briea will be in kindergarden next year.
After we dropped the boys off, we went to Sam's to run some errands and ended up having lunch there.
I am trying to take advantage of every minute I get to spend with them. I know that just like the boys, they will be in school and growing up even faster than I can handle.
Who wouldn't want to soak up as much of these sweet faces as possible.

Sleepy Sunday

I can't remember why we were all so tired, but this was so true to how we felt. We were a little late to church so we sat in the entry way. As soon as everyone was down they were almost literally out. I couldn't help but think how cute they all were. Snuggled together.

and we are off...

so they day we loaded the truck was a stressful one.
we had way more than we thought and our truck was packed to the BRIM!!
our neighbors got to keep half of our stuff because there just was not enough room.
i tried not to be sad about some things... but it's just stuff right.
so we finally finished packing around 6:30. (we were thinking we would be done around 2)
our plan was to drive to Indianapolis the first night and then knock out the rest of the trip the following day.
Don't they look excited to be heading out.
Garran and my dad were in the Budget truck behind me and the kids.
Here was our last family picture in front of our house.
When we moved here, we only had three kids and I was pregnant with Ayla.
In three years we went through and accomplished a lot.
Time sure flew by.
We also got a picture with our neighbors. They were so great to us while we lived there. We are surely going to miss them. The kids would go over and visit and steal cookies from their kitchen. They were great to live next door to.
After two long days of driving we finally made it!!
I was so happy to see that North Carolina sign.
I was ready to be out of our van for a while!!

Oh this Girl!

Oh this girl.
She is so busy.
Always into something.
Always
 investigating, playing, organizing, bossing,
She is just plain busy.
She is also inventive.

The other day, I was doing laundry and she said that she needed to go potty. I felt her diaper and felt what I thought were hard little poops. I said "Let's just go change your diaper" but she refused. She insisted on using the potty. So in frustration, I agreed. I took her in the bathroom to take off her diaper and this is what I found.
GROSS- I know.

Ayla discovered a new pocket.
She did end up going potty on the toilet.
And in case you are wondering...Those starburst ended up in the trash.

A Change...

Well with Grad School coming to an end and changes needing to be made, a move was inevitable.
We looked all over for jobs in different places, but we finally made a decision.
Our next stop in this Gillespie Family Adventure....NC!
I feel really good about this move for our family.
Of course we are sad about leaving all the grandparents, but it is exciting to be moving near cousins that the kids can play with.
Everything has really just fallen into place. We have a place to live that some friends of ours rent out. It's a cute little house that i think will be perfect for our family!
I will keep everyone updated with pictures and info.
For now, we will be headed out the last week of May.
So let the packing and cleaning begin!

5 Months Out!

I am not a fan of these pictures, as I still see so many problem areas, but I do want to document the changes.
 This picture was in January.
This picture was the end of February.
 January
 February
It does not seem like much of a change, but I have still been loosing. Not at the same rate, but weight is still coming off. It is normal to hit a small plateau around this stage. Your body kind of takes a rest and then the weight starts coming off again. I am ready for the weight to continue to come off.
Their are parts of my body that will never be what I want, but I am thankful for how much stronger I feel and how much better I feel.

mommy moments.

Ok, so I have driven my kids to school everyday since the started.. Even preschool. This last semester of school is crazy crazy busy and so I finally decided to give in to their begging to let them ride the bus with their friends.
So I called the school, set it up and gave in to my crazy need to overprotect my kids.
this was their first day...
they got on and I am pretty sure a party of my heart and nerves went with them. Putting your kids on a bus I am sure does not seem like such a nerve racking deal for most parents...but it was hard for me.
But of course they did it with no problem! They found a seat, sat with friends and were off to school.

husband.

I have an amazing husband.
Sometimes I just think that I need to tell people that. And him that as well.
I really got lucky when I married Garran.
When some guys are trying to find ways out of the house, my husband is worried about how he is not spending enough time with us because he is so consumed with things at school right now.
He is a good father and a good husband.
I guess I should replace those goods with GREAT!
I love him.
I want everyone to know that.

my girls.

some days i look at these two and I can't believe how much they are growing. When we moved here, Briea was not even 18 months. Now she is in pre school and Ayla is a girl full of energy and telling it like it is!

Sisters.

I love little moments like this.
I remember seeing the boys together every once in a while, just sitting together.
I love it!

Now there is a Sunbeam!!

and her name is Briea!
I can't believe my baby is moving out of nursery and into the Sunbeam class.
She is growing up and I can't seem to stop her!

our story

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."

-President Gordon B. Hinckley
