Christmas in Des Moines!

This year in our rotation it was our turn to spend Christmas Eve and Day at my mom's house.
We had a nice visit and it was nice because both of my sisters were there.
We are all on the same rotation. So that is nice.
We got to spend some time together, play some games, care for some sick kids.... I mean it would not be a Christmas vacation without someone getting sick.
Overall we had a really good time.
Here is our Christmas Day in pictures!

Ginger Bread Houses

Today I got to go to Briea's school to help with their winter party and help a bunch of Pre schoolers build houses. It was a lot of fun. I so enjoy being able to go help in my kids classes.

Getting ready to decorate.

The little boy on the right is Cody. Apparently a week or two ago he and Briea got married and she kissed him on the cheek. Garran was not happy!

Briea's house all done!

Lights Tradition!

We went out again this year to pick out the house we thought was the best. This year the kids picked the winner. The people were so nice. They came out and took a picture with the kids and even said that giving them the award made it all worth it! This has to be one of my favorite traditions.

Frida??

Someone got into my makeup. I think she was trying to channel her inner Frida Kahlo!

Ginger Bread Apolloza

This year was no different than any others.
We had our annual Ginger Bread Building night.
I love it and so do the kids.
They were asking all day if it was time to start.
Here are our building supplies.
 This was my finished product.
 From the side.
 Briea's house.
Poor Garran's house. He actually really worked hard on his house this year. It started off really great, but then went down hill in the worst way.
He tried to hold it together, but i just think it was not meant to be.
We always invite the missionaries from our church over to do them with us, since they are away from their families. Here is Elder Brandt.
Here is Cullan with his cute little house.
 Ayla...she is a minimalist.
Kael...He was pretty excited about it.
 Briea and her house again.
Poor Garran. I love that he tried to build a nice house. It just didn't work out this year.
and last but not least, Elder Peatross
Hope you are enjoying the Holidays as much as we are.
December is so much fun!!

Soooo Busy!

I have fallen behind on blogging. I mean this month is just crazy. I feel like I am being pulled in every direction with all the different things that we or I have going on. Just crazy town!! I thought I would just update quick to share some fun news. I went to a party at my friends house and fell in love with the product the party was for. They are called Jamberry Nails. Three sisters in Utah wanted a fun way to have their nails done but did not want have spend a fortune!
So they started their company and here we are!!

I have started selling these, one because I love them and might have a small addiction and two, I think they are a great product.
You get a sheet of nails and they last 2-3 weeks on your hands and 4-6 weeks on your toes. They are awesome.
Here is my website if you want to check them out!!
We also have juniors!!
I mean how cute did B's nails turn out!!
(The thumb is a little sloppy because she was getting impatient. Imagine that!)
Here are some samples that I was playing with.
I love the polka dots, but I am always partial to polka dots!!

our story

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
