Valentines Day Dinner

Well, once again we celebrated Valentines Day with our family dinner by candlelight.
This year we did a fruit and cheese spread.
It was kind of a throw together  because we had a snow storm that messed up my plans to go grocery shopping for the original dinner.
We still pulled it off. We got everything decorated and ready for our  night.
Ayla was not feeling well, but she was the first to the table and in a princess dress non the less.
I made Pineapple whips for a fun drink.
Briea was so cute. She asked me to put one of the flowers in her hair like if she was out on date.
My favorite Valentines!
So grateful for each and everyone of them.

Today we had a Valentines Day Party a little late due to illness, people traveling and crazy schedules.
So today we had burritos for lunch with strawberries and pineapples to dip in chocolate.
It was yummy!

Valentines Day.

This year the schools had their Valentines Day parties in the morning.
It was a nice switch because they were at different times so I did not have to split my time at the parties. I got to go to both.
Kael working on his Valentines Day crafts.
 Sewing Hearts.
Kael and some of the kids from his class after they handed out their Valentines Day cards.

Garran was leaving on a trip and so we checked the kids out early and had lunch with Garran before he had to leave. This was us all together before we dropped him off.
Briea at school on Valentines Day. She was so cute and excited for his party.

Valentines Cards

I saw these on pinterest and decided to make them for the boys for their classes this year.
i think that they turned our pretty cute.
the boys really liked them.
so did i!!

Ms. B's Valentines Day Bash

Cullan's classroom had a Valentines Day party and luckily my and Garrans schedule worked out so that I was able to attend.
(I love when that happens)
When I got there, the room mom, Heidi, had different centers set up.
(Heidi, is below on the left. She is very nice)
She was handling the snack center.
then the other room mom made heart shaped boxes with the kids that had their pictures on it.
it was very cute.
Cullan's made it home before it was all torn up.
Little boys are just rough on stuff.
The next center was the monster table.
Love Monster!
They each got a sheet with a blank monster and a sheet of stickers.
Here is Cullan hard at work on his monster.
I like that it has an ipod in its hand.
Next up was giving out the Valentines cards.
that was my station.
I took a picture of Cullan with one of his Valentine's Day cards.

It was a fun little party and I was grateful that I was able to be there and spend the afternoon with Cullan and his class!

Valentine's Dinner

This year we had our annual Valentines day dinner as a family.
The kids always look forward to it and so do I!
This year we had BBQ chicken, potatos and salad.
It was a fun dinner by candle light.
I saw this balloon bouqet at the dollar tree and thought it would be fun to add as our center piece.
Plus the kids love balloons.
They also had these really cute labels at Walmart that you could put on your drinks to give them a little more of a Valentines day feel.
Ayla really enjoyed drinking out of our "fancy" (plastic) Valentines day glasses.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Valentines day and told those around them just how much they loved them and how important they are to them.

TRA-DI-TION

(sorry about the title, i have been watching "Fiddler on the Roof". That song is stuck in my head)
Any who. tonight we had our annual Valentine's Family Dinner.
I figured why not start with the pictures of dessert first.
(plus that is just how it loaded. I'm not feeling so hot, so i am just going to go with it)
here is the cake that the kids and i made. can you tell they decorated it. there are sprinkles and candy everywhere. surprisingly they did not want any. so now we have a whole cake sitting on the table. Garran tasted it and said it was really good, but who knows. Kids are so finicky.
good thing i was such a nice mom and let them pick out some cookies too. Some of these are going to our neighbor for Valentines Day. She lives alone and is in her 90's.
For dinner we had heart shaped quesadillas. So here are all the fixings.
and here are the quesadillas!
here is our lovely Valentine's Dinner. The kids love eating by candle light.
They were so funny. They said "Mom, it's like were at a restaurant!"
see....doesn't he look excited!
"CHEESE MOM!"
He is getting old now and thinks he is to cool for school sometimes. He told me, when I asked if he knew what Valentine's Day was about, he said "Yeah, it's about family and LOVE!"
Ayla having some lovely Valentines Day Soy!
now this picture is HORRIBLE. However I feel inclined to post it. I am sick. Garran was only home for two hours to do the dinner and then off to school again. However this is the memory. This is how I looked through the dinner. Sick and all. So here we are, we still had a good time.
Happy Valentines Day!!
Hope everyone had a LOVE-ly day!

water colors.

we decided to do a little decorating for the month of "LOVE"!
plus i was getting a little stir crazy and so were the kids. so i got some white paper, cut out a bunch of hearts and brought out the water colors!!
the kids had a blast and Garran and i also had fun painting some of the hearts. i did not get any pictures of the actual process. only because it was all i could do to keep all three of the older ones from mixing all the colors, spilling water, and Breia from licking the paint brushes. i think she thought it was some new form of make up!
i made the one that i got most of them smiling as our new header, but this is our fun one. we always have to take a fun one. anyways, you can see our creations behind the kids. they are really proud of them and i have to admit the look pretty cute in the window. so hope everyone is getting ready to feel a little extra love this month!!

our story

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
