trunk or treat~

tonight was our church's annual trunk or treat. the boys had a blast. before we left i snapped a few pictures of some of the cutest trunk or treaters you may have ever seen!seriously have you ever seen a cuter lion or Thomas!
once we got to the trunk or treat they had some fun games set up. they had pumpkin bowling and some crazy doughnut game. here is what that looked like!this little girl is so cute.. i love her chubby little cheeks.and yes ladies thats right, this was my husband at the doughnut game! i am so proud! =)
of course their were a ton of cute little trunk or treaters...so i am showing off a few. (this was one upset ninja)

however cullans favorite trunk or treater was a boy he had never met, but i am sure you can guess from the picture why cullan followed him around all night and was so excited to see him at the party.

and last but not least here are some of the boys favorite trunks from the night!

the boys loved this one because the door bell actually rang. the kept going back over and over.they also loved this one with all the lit pumpkins and for a special reason. at this trunk they got to pick a treat and a toy. what a fun stop.

SO HAPPY ALMOST HALLOWEEN !! BE SAFE TRICK OR TREATING TOMORROW NIGHT!

crazy pun-kins~

today we finally got around to painting our pumpkins. we painted them this year because we just did not feel like carving them, but we also don't really have a good place to put them. So we just painted them and put them on our table. of course i took pictures because there is hardly any time that we do something fun and i don't document it by taking pictures!

so we started off with the boys each painting a small pumpkin that they picked out themselves!
they were really having fun. they love anything that has to do with painting (does it surprise anyone really, i mean their dad is an artist after all=)

cullan was really impressed with the progress he was making. every time he used a new color he would say something like "mommy, i paint green." or "mommy, i paint my pumpkin red!"
kael too was very into the whole painting fun. he was trying the double brush approach! he really likes to live on the edge.
the following show just how weird we are. their are few times when we paint that it does not turn into body art. garran is usually the one who starts it. this time he started by painting on cullans back and then the boys thought it was hilarious. they started painting each other, themselves, i know we are strange folks!

(daddy painting cullan)
(cullan painting cullan)

(cullan painting kael...notice the paint in kaels hair. everything seems to end up there)

of course their are always well.....

MISHAPS!

good thing the paint is harmless. a quick wipe and a little water, we were good as new!

and finally ....

the finished product!

pretty talented kids, if i do say so myself!

halloween party~

well today was cullans mom school halloween party. it was a lot of fun. all of the moms did a great job and i think the kids all had a great time. this was pretty much how it went.
these were the treats that i made, well before cooking. ( i know that i took the easy way out and bought the pre-made stuff. some time there is just not enough hours in the day people!)
this is cullan at the party, annoyed that i was saying he was cute and that i wanted to take his picture.
this little guy arrived at the same time he did, i just loved his costume!
comparing hats....
cute family..dino, witch, and mommy!
the kids working on their fences for their pumpkins to sit on. on of the moms, charity, told a story about five little pumpkins and this was the food craft that went with it.
charity talking to the kids about pumpkins and how they grow from pumpkin seeds.
this was another fun activity, the got to decorate cupcakes. cullan really really loves to put sprinkles on the cupcakes. he ended up decorating two.

this is the best group shot that i could get. a couple of the kiddos were not all that excited about taking pictures, they would have rather been playing. (cullans costume only lasted half the party)

here are the individuals of each mom school kid!

the witchthe lionmr buzz light yearthe bat manthe shy little princess and here is my little guy.. he was thomas, but decided to take it off so he could run!then he decided to try on Ians buzz light years costume! doesn't it look like he is trying to fly away!

and last but not least, here are some cute crashers. these are all younger siblings that tagged along for the fun!

HAPPY ALMOST HALLOWEEN !!

blast from the past~

the other night garran and i were watching tv and a movie came on. now this used to be one of my favorite movies around halloween. i have not seen it in years. garran was flipping and saw it just starting and he had never seen it the whole way through. so we watched. it is so funny. i don't know on a scale of 1-10 what it would rank but it is still pretty funny.

another one~

today i got to take some pictures of my friend meghan and her husband. they are expecting their first baby in a few weeks. they are also having a girl. we went out to another friends house out in the country and had fun taking pictures in the fields and by the barns. these are a few of my favorites.

they are such a nice couple. they were very patient with all the wind and it was kind of chilly. however better than tomorrow. 10% chance of snow people...blah!

i am excited for them to have their first little girl. i posted some more on my photo blog here. best wishes to them and their new little one!

our story

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
