Trick or Treating!

Every year since we have moved here, we have gone to our friends the Marcum's to trick or treat.
We go with a few other friends and have a good time walking the neighborhood.
Here are my little trick or treaters.

Here we are, ready to roll. Garran could not come to later due to work.
I took a couple pictures of pumpkins the kids liked. The one above is Jake the Dog.
 These are those little minions.
Everyone got home, ran to the couch, and looked at their spoils.....and then partook!
Hope Everyone had a Happy Halloween!!

Halloween Party Time!!

Today the kids had their Halloween Parties at school and of course the parade that they always do.
I am really sorry that these pictures are out of order, but it's late and I am tired from a very long day, so try and stay with me!!

Kael lined up with his class, waiting for the parade to start.

i know its side ways, but look how cute this little boy is. I can't believe he is that little.

deals.

i love a good deal.
I love this dress!
$5.00 at Target!
Yes Please!!

another one gone.

another one bites the dust.
this kid is going to be completely toothless before to long.
he said it is ok, because then we can just get him fake teeth!

Shocking.

I could not help but laugh when I saw her sleeping like this. All I could think of was, whatever she is dreaming about really is shocking!! Sometimes it is the little things that crack me up and this is one of them!!

Glasses!

Well we are on round two with glasses for Cullan. His first pair kept breaking and we would have to take them in and have them repaired. So luckily they were still in a period where we could exchage them for another pair.
So he decided on this pair. I was happy with his choice because they are a little bit sturdier.
You can't tell in this picture, but they are a blue and green. Very handsome on him!

Kael's glasses finally came in. He picked a simple brown pair. I think they look really good on him. His are more for reading, but he really likes them, so he wears them most of the day.

Finally a Combo I like!!

After surgery, water becomes a constant.
But you can only take it for so long. Or at least that is the case with me.
So I finally found a combo that I like that is ok.
You are a loud to have a little juice each day but you are supposed to water it down.
Well that just is no good either. So I can drink as much of the Ocean Spray Diet as I want. No sugar. Yippee. So I mix the 2 half and half.
Yummy!!!
Just a tip for anyone out there that needs a little break from water!!
ps. this is not my apple juice of choice. It is a little high in sugar. there are better ones, but this was what the gas station had this morning when I stopped in.

1 month post!

Well here are the stats for my 1 month out post.
(I plan on posting pics and stats each month on my surgery date.)
So here we go.
From my last check in with the surgeon, on 9/15 I am down 32.4 pounds.
From my actual surgery date of September 26 till today October 26 I am down, 23 pounds.
Here are my pictures.
This is my day of surgery-9/26
 This is today 10/26
This was pre surgery 9/26

 This is today 10/26
As for inches-
I have gone done 1 1/4 inch on my neck
2 inches on my upper arms
1 inch on my forearm
Almost 3 inches on my waist.
3 inches on my abdomen
1 inch on thighs
I still have a ways to go but I am happy with the results so far.

Halloween Fun!

So we had our church Halloween party and trunk or treat last night.
The kids were more than excited.
Everyone dressed up except for Garran. He is not big into costumes, but he came straight from work, so i gave him a pass!
 Here is Red Ranger Cullan
 Ninja Kael
 and Pink Princess Briea.
Ayla was not in her costume. She was going to be a pumpkin but it was just to hot. So I just put her in one of Briea's old dance outfits.
At the church, they had all sorts of games set up.
Here is Cullan bobbing for doughnuts.
These two lovely ladies are some of the young women i get to work with each sunday.  The handsome fella in the middle is one of our awesome young men.
These are some of our newest young women. They just started coming to young women's in october!
These are my friends the Marcums. How cute are they? If there was a costume contest, they would have won. Does that cute little fella look familiar? Yep he is the cutie I watch during the day.
Ayla was eating dinner and this serious face. I was so glad I caught it.
More of our awesome young women!
 Briea intensely eating her sucker!
My friend Becca and her cute new arrival. Baby Eli was the cutest sheriff there.
I dressed up as a witch.
How adorable is my little ballerina?
Oh i just love this little naughty girl!
Breia and her friend Maggie. Maggie's family came as the crew from Scooby Do!
 Phillip cracks me up!!
 A witchy mama!
Me and the hubby!
I am hoping Halloween is warm enough for the kids to have fun. If not at least they had a good time at the church party!!

Somedays are better than others.

today is one of those days that could have gone better.
my kids seem to tune me out.
nothing i said made it to their little ears.
it was stressful to say the least.
then this afternoon, ayla decided to try daddy's razor.

 good thing she is cute!
Here is hoping tomorrow is better!

What to do?

ok, so i am in a tough spot.
some of you might remember that at the beginning of the school year i voiced some concern about Cullans Teacher. At the advice of a couple different people I decided to give it sometime and see how the first quarter played out. I thought, I should give her the benefit of the doubt. Well now the first quarter is almost over and I am even more unhappy. I just don't know what to do. Having worked in schools, I know people say that children do not get singled out, but that is just not true. I have heard teachers talk if a child has a parent that complains or causes problems for the teacher. I know how it works. However, Cullan's teacher is just bugging me. There are two first grade classes in his school. The other first grade class gets a weekly letter to the parents saying what they are working on. They have a class website. The kids come home with reading, math and spelling homework. Our class has had zero parent teacher communication. Our kids don't ever come home with reading or math homework. In fact it was almost a month into school before we even got a spelling list. I am at a loss. I don't know what to do. There is no communication, even when emailed. It takes her usually up to a week to respond. I just don't want Cullan to suffer, educationally, because of a teacher that does not have her stuff together and does not seem to really enjoy children all that much.

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
