latest of sayings...

• If there was ever any doubt that Ayla was mine, it is all over now. I love a cute bag, and Ayla just informed me she can't sleep without her purse!
• Ayla this morning, "your standing on my nerves!". Made me giggle!
• Feeling rather frustrated I just told the kids that the next person that came running through the living room screaming would be going straight to bed! All of a sudden I hear this crazy scream and see Garran Cochran Gillespie running through the living room! I'm so thankful for a husband that makes me laugh, but he's not getting off the hook that easy!!
• While watching tv, a lady was crying and Cullan says "she better not cry to hard cause sometimes when you do that you throw up." Oh the things kids choose to share.

Hospital

 Today the kids were playing hospital. Here is Ayla on the stretcher. It was so funny. 

Later they brought in Briea on the stretcher. (Really one of those bed rail things)

After they brought Briea in on the stretcher, Cullan had the following conversation with Garran. 

Cullan: Doctor, (addressing Garran) We have done her X Rays and her brain, stomach and lungs are fine, but we found that half her brain is missing!!

It was so funny to watch Garran try and keep a straight face. 

I love the funny things that kids come up with. 

How they see things....

Kael just told Garran and I that people in our town don't like the letter P. Garran and I were both a little confused when he said that he saw a bunch of signs around town with the letter P in a circle with a line through it. Then it dawned on us.... No Parking LOL

honesty

today i picked cullan up from school. 

upon walking out the door, cullan looks up at me and says...

"mom, you stink!"

he said it just loud enough for all the other parents to hear, which i appreciated.

then i said to him, "no cullan, that is the fertilizer that the farmers put on the fields that surround your school!".

I tell ya. Sometimes your kids now how to make you feel loved!

littles funnies

while this might make me sound like a bad mom, today briea tripped and the little dance she did as she was tripping made me laugh. i could not help it. once she landed, she looked at me and said, "girl, don't laugh at me!"

Garran heading up the stairs, "come on guys bath time!" briea charging up the stairs, " wait for meeee! I want to be naked toooooo!"

At the store today Cullan asked me if he could have a quarter to get something out of those machines. I agreed. He got a Chinese looking ring with a heart on it. On the way home we had the following conversation.

Cullan: I think I'm going to try and get krista back. (a little girl in cullans class)

Me: ok

Cullan: maybe I will give her this ring with the heart on it, because I am just a lover.....and well, that's alright.

Me: we'll I'm sure she would really like that.

Then I notice him just looking out the window and I hear him say, (kind of to himself) "I wonder what a kiss on the lips would be like?"

As I was helping Cullan with his homework the other day, this was our conversation. Me: Name 4 things that are slow. Cullan: a turtle, a snail....ummm... A sleep walker???

Kael to Briea: Briea , leave me alone! I'm looking for inner piece!

Memories (for me)

Tonight I was telling Cullan how much i love his freckles. Then he said "I like your red freckles too". Umm yeah sadly those aren't freckles!

Love moments like this morning. I was dropping Cullan off at school and I gave him a hug and kissed his forehead and told him I loved him. Then he ran off to the playground. He got half way there, turned around and said "mom, I just love your hugs and kisses!".

On the way home from picking Cullan up from school, he told me that they had their first kid meeting today. This is where the whole school meets in the auditorium in the morning to say the pledge and a few other things. Then he says, " mom, did you know we are all made of justice under God?".

Listening to Cullan and kael in the back seat discussing whether IR not this man coming out of the building is Garran or not. Cullan says its not BC garran did not have a hat on when he left. Kael says it is because they have the same color shirt. I guess they have not noticed that the Guy is African American yet!

The Pledge

Today I picked Cullan up from school. Of course each day I ask him how his day went and what he learned or what was fun about his day. He said that today they had their first kid meeting. I was not sure what he was talking about at first. However after a little questioning I realized he was talking about an morning assembly they have each morning to say the pledge and go over other school news. 

He said that they said something called "The pledge". (Guess we have never gone over that, even though he used to say it every morning in mom school)

Anyways. He was telling me all about the pledge. Then he says, "Mom, did you know we are all made of justice under God?".

I love the way kids hear things sometimes. I thought it was so funny and cute.

Kael-isms

Kael has always had a spectacular personality. What I mean by that, is that there is never a dull moment with this boy. I know that every kid goes through a phase of saying things in a silly way, but these are a few that i love and want to remember before he completely grows out of them.

1. smokerretes- as in "mom we don't smoke those smokerrettes!"

2. bugskittos- just another way of say mosquito

3. foodgaser- this would be where you fill up your car with gas, but they also sell food inside.

4. lilly-pop- yep just lolly-pops 

5. hers- he refers to just about every girl this way. "hers is not sharing with me!"
6. chooses- as in "mom, i don't like those chooses."

there are more that i love, but i am to tired to think of them right now. 

maybe i will add to it as they come to me!

guess Im out.

last night i was laying on the couch playing with briea. my shirt had come up just a bit above my pants. basically you could see my belly button. anyways cullan happened to be standing there and noticed something else. STRETCH MARKS. he all of a sudden was very concerned about what was wrong with my stomach. i told him that i had those from having him and Kael, Briea and Ayla in my tummy. That when your skin stretches that happens sometimes. 

That did not bring him much comfort. he went over to garran and asked if he had seen my stomach. Garran said that he did know about the stretch marks and that they were ok. That they did not hurt me and that they were just from having babies. 

All of a sudden Cullan burst into tears and says. Mom is going to die from her stretch marks and then you will have to marry some one else.

i thought. wow, well that was quick. a few stretch marks and i am out the door ;0)

garran reassured him that i would not die from stretch marks and that he was not going to marry anyone else because of them either. 

i got a good laugh from this but cullan was still very concerned.

he came downstairs this morning asking if he could see my stomach. he said he wanted to check on my stretch marks. i reassured him once again that i was fine, that they did not hurt, and that i was not going to die from them.

i don't know if that comforted him much. however after our conversation  i thought to myself, please don't let me be the first person to die from stretch marks. i can see the news stories now!!

my morning laugh.

once again this morning started with cullan coming in and sitting on the bed while i was playing with Ayla. Garran was geting ready for work and so we were all just kind of chatting. the following was our conversation.

cullan: dad what is moms favorite animals?

dad: why don't you ask her?

cullan: mom, what is your favorite animals? are they horses?

me: well i like horses but i like other animals too. i have to admit i am kind of partial to turtles.

cullan: oh

then he proceeds to sing a song a out the new information that he has just learned.

(imagine cullan singing this)

"mom's favorite animal is turtles.

grandmas favorite animal is horses. 

Brieas favorite animal is....REVENGE!!"

garran and i both started dying laughing. we could not believe he had just said that. i laughed so hard. then cullan proceeded to sing.

"she is like a giant volcano"

hmm. do you think he thinks that his sister has some anger issues?

ps. after all this he told garran that if garran were an animal, he would be a giant chipmunk.

this kid has some personality!

more moments to remember!

Tonight I got home from grocery shopping. Kael came over and sat down on the couch next to me and said, "mom, I am so glad you came home safe." I love sweet moments like that!

Cullan, as we were leaving the grocery store says from the back of the van, "attention, this is your capiton speaking. Please prepare for landing!". A little while later he and Kael were fighting. I said, " ok when we get home both of you are in time out!" cull an replies, "fine mom, you win again!".

Today on the way home from church, Kael was talking and cull an interrupted him and said, "hold on Kael, pause like an iPod." I don't know why, but I laughed so hard at that.

oh my kids.

my kids say crazy things. again this is so i will remember them. 

Cullan never ceases to amaze me in his creativity! Today while I was cleaning the living room, he came half way down the stairs, guitar in hand and said " mom, there is something I need to tell you". He then strummed his guitar a few times and proceeded to sing, " Kael just called me a stupiddddd stinkyyyyy 

face". Telling on your brother is not so annoying when you sing it :0)

Cullan and Kael just came down stairs from quiet time. They were upset because they wanted to watch a movie. When they came down stairs they informed me they were leaving tomorrow to go and stay in a hotel. I said " oh really?". Cullan then says " ya we are, we just need money. Got any money mom?". I 

guess I am funding this run away trip to the hotel,where I am not aloud in their room!

Today I was feeling a little frustrated with the kids while we were all in the garage. I finally said with a sigh, "do you know what you kids are?". I was going to say, driving me crazy.However, before I could get the words out of my mouth Cullan says "amazing, adorable, and wonderful kids!".

Oh Cullan.

Cullan just asked me from the stairs, "Mom, what does metaphorically mean? I really need to know these things!!". Seriously, you are 5!

status updates.

i did not want to forget some of the status updates from facebook that i did not post on here. so this post is pretty  much just for me.

• My kids have not been listening and I just told them to go to their room when cullan looks at me and says "mom mom just watch." then turns to briea and says "here comes the tickle bug" (tickles her) then says with a cheese grin " see mom she laughs" ... how do you stay mad at that!
• is laughing at my son you just yelled to me while running to his room, "Good-Bye and Good Luck Mom!" (Sat, 19 Sep 2009)

• Meghan loves my kids. They make me laugh. Garran and the kids made me a surprise while I was laying down not feeling well. When I got up they brought it to me. • Meghan says you have got to have a sense of humor as a mother. Tonight after the kids went to bed  I noticed there was a small amount of candy corn left in a baggy on the table. Most of them were broken in half. I grabbed the bag and sat down next to Garran to watch tv. On about my third grab out of the bag..... i suddenly looked at Garran and said...."I'm pretty sure I just ate a crayon!. Gotta love it (Tue, 27 Oct )

oh to be a fly on the wall

This morning started like most mornings. Somehow everyone ends up in our room after waking up and we usually talk for a few minutes before starting the day.
So if you were a fly on our wall this morning this is what you would hear.
Our morning started with a story from Cullan about a baby who had lost it's license and the adventure it went on to find it. Next he asked if it would be ok if he sang Ayla a "Lully-bar". This was also a Cullan original. He is quite the song writer.
While listening to the song, I commented to Garran about how stiff my back was again this morning ( I have been having some back issues for a while now) when Cullan heard this he said that he would be more than happy to give me a "mirage". This basically means that he karate chops my back for 5 minutes. So I laid on my stomach and Cullan pulls the back of my shirt up a bit and begins his karate chopping "mirage". Well what one brother does, so must another. So as Kael starts to give me a "mirage" also, Cullan exits a little grumpy and heads down stairs.
As Kael continues to give me a "mirage" he asks those oh so wonderful questions that children do. "Mom, what are these funny scratches?" as he is tracing them with his fingers on my side. "Well Kael, those aren't scratches, those are stretch marks.". Kael replies "How did you get those?" I try to respond as positively as possible that I got them from when he and all of his siblings were in my tummy. That seemed to answer that and on to the next round of questioning.
Kael again asks "eww mom, why do you have this red dot on your back?". Garran looks at it and says "that is just a mole Kael.". Kael digest that info for a minute and then proceeds with this.

Then he looks at Garran and says in a nutshell that he was really surprised to find out that I had ants living in my back and that this red dot must be the ant temple! 

So on that note I get up to start my day as a "scratched up ant temple"...sigh.... if only i had got more sleep last night. 

alas i did not. Kael entered our room somewhere around 3 am. He climbed into bed to which Garran was not happy, but I was frankly to tired to fight, so I just let him lay by me. As he gets all snug under the blanket with me he decides that it is time to chat. After about ten minutes, I say that it is really time to get to sleep. A few minutes later I hear "Mom, do you have a pillow that I can have?". SIGH! (that came from me) "Yes Honey". So I have two pillows. One that is really nice and fluffy and then another that is older and pretty flat, but that I just use to give me a little extra fluff. Well I accidentally hand him my really nice fluffy pillow and before I can realize it I hear "thanks mom, this is going to make me so comfy!". ARGGGGG. Whatever. So I take the flat pillow and toss and turn for the rest of the night.

So if you were a fly on our wall this morning, this is what you would have heard.

guilty conscience.

so last night, Garran went upstairs to help the kids get ready for bed. he was the first one up there and when he got to the bathroom he yelled downstairs "what is this?", looking at the boys. Kael quickly replies, "I did not pee in that cup!". Garran was referring to the fact that a bottle of facial cleaner and been dumped down the sink. Um. Yeah. We had a good laugh about that and then wondered what else is going on that we don't know about. This kid is going to be the end of me.

Garran just ran upstairs because he heard Cullan screaming/crying. When Garran gets up there, he says "Cullan, What is the matter, are you ok?" Cullan responds very calmly..."Yeah, I am just practicing my screams."

oh the things this child says...

cullan speaking about a little girl in our neighborhood... "she is the meanest little girl in the whole world! i am pretty sure she was made from aliens."

we had some friends suprise us with a visit. when they got here cullan says to the mom of the group. "HI!!!...wait did you bring your kids??"

as we are walking into subway..."Mom, I am pretty sure there is something delicious in here!"
