Unbelievable Courage!

OK so today was a unusual day for me. I had a doctor's appointment this morning that really did not end up going that well. I found out that once again I will be having surgery. I am not at all excited about it and am still looking for other options right up unto the day I go in. Anyways as I was waiting to go and see the doctor there was an older man and his wife in the waiting room. The older man out of no where would start singing. VERY LOUDLY (i might add). He was just belting out any old tune he could think of. At first I looked at him like "OK kind of weird there fella", but then I had to kind of stop myself from kind of chuckling because he then stopped singing and began talking back to the TV that was in the waiting room. As a commercial would come on he would once again very loudly try to guess the product being advertised. And if he got it right, a very enthusiastic YES YES would follow. But if he was to get it wrong he would yell out OHHHH NO I WAS SO CLOSE. As I was listening to all this his wife seem to be sitting there next to him completely oblivious to her husband and his interesting antics. She was just knitting a blanket that she had brought with her. She did not seem to have a care in the world. Very much like the Grandmother in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. The oldest of the women. Anyways this was my first encounter with courage today. I thought if only I was that brave, to do whatever I felt like whenever I felt like with out a care in the world as to what the people around me thought of what I was doing. He was perfectly happy and i thought someday when I am old and gray I will sit in a doctors office and belt out a ditty or two for some young person and hopefully they will admire my courage too.
My second encounter with courage today was that my cousin came home from Iraq today. We went to see his unit come home. It was very exciting. On the highway we were running a little behind but it ended up being really cool because we met up with the buses and the patriot guard (those motorcycle guys that escort all the troops home). Anyways it was really cool to see those guys riding with the troops and it was exciting to see me cousin today. I am glad that he is home safely and I am thankful for what he sacrificed for everyone.

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."

-President Gordon B. Hinckley
