Apple Orchard

On Tuesday I went as a chaperon to the Apple Orchard with Kael's Pre-K class.
It was a little chilly, but the kids had a lot of fun. I was in charge of Kael and two other little boys. Here they are when we first got to the Orchard. Kael looks so big next to them, but I have to remind myself he is a whole year older than them. He is 5 and they are just turning 4.
Darn those late birthdays!
The first thing that we got to do was go on a Hay ride. The farmers black lab just jumped right up there with us and enjoyed the ride. He was a very sweet dog, and the kids loved having him along.
After the hayride we got to have some apple doughnuts and cider.
 They were delicious. Very tasty!!
Here is Kael with some of his classmates enjoying their snack.
Next, we went into the barn to see how the apples were sorted and stored. The farmer showed the kids some of the more unusual apples that he had found recently. They thought that was pretty funny.
Next on our stop was the bee lady.
She talked to the kids about the bee hives they have there and how they make honey.
After she was done talking, the kids got to check out the bees hard at work. The also got to look for the queen who was marked with a blue dot.
Do you see her??
From the bees we went to the petting zoo and straw maze. It was nice because the kids could kind of get the wiggles out and run around. I was happy too. Only because up to that point I had three little boys wanting to hold my recently stitched hand. All I can say is that that situation equals PAIN!
I always think it is funny the faces my kids make in these cut out boards. Here is Kael and J. I don't think any of the kids in the class were tall enough to be the rooster!
We spent almost two hours there and by then the kids were ready to go. It was pretty chilly and they were all really excited about being able to ride the school bus again. For most of them, it was there first time on a bus. These are big moments when you are 5!!
I snapped a quick class picture when Kael's teacher had them all sitting.
I have a lot of respect for Kaels teacher. These kids were all pretty good. But she does this twice a day because this Pre-K is half days. Wow!! I am really happy he has such an amazing teacher!!

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
