5 years~

ok so this all started last night around 11:30 when i told garran i just needed a quick picture for my blog today of the two of us. this is how we started. ok so we started off somewhat normal. not the best picture, but we were up late with briea and i just wanted something that was typical us. except that garran decided to be silly and fluff his hair up=)
then we tried this. i just wanted a couple different ones to choose from!
ok now you can tell its getting late. the craziness is starting to break through.

oh yeah there it is in full force.
happy anniversary honey.
after 5 years i love that you can still make me laugh more than anyone i know!

easter mail~

today the kids got some fun easter mail from my mom. they were so excited when the ups man came a knocking on the door. garran helped the boys open the box and the first thing out was for lil miss! she got this sweet little soft bunny. can't you see how much she loves it already.then the boys pulled out these yummy suckers but somehow briea ended up grabbing one of them.
then they found the gift from grandpa george!the boys were so excited. they have been talking about fishing for the longest time. they sat and played the game for a long time.
kael catching his fish.
cullan was so excited. he thinks it is a really fun game.
they also opened coloring books which kael has asked me to "read" to him multiple times.
it can be very difficult to explain to a two 1/2 year old why you can not really read a book that has only pictures. oh well. he is cute.
thanks mo mo and george for the fun easter stuff!!!

the enforcer~

today at playgroup we had a little problem.
cullan got hit by another child that was there .
the other little kid wanted the toy back that cullan was playing with and so the kid decided to hit cullan a few times to let him know.
well cullan was caught of guard and then started crying. (getting whacked in the head hurts)
so anyways kael comes over, stands there and looks at cullan and then turns to the hitter.
he immediately got that little finger a waving and started telling that kid "NO NO"
then he asked cullan if he was ok...but kael was not done.
after the moms had broke up the scuffle and everyone was going on with playing - kael continued to follow this child around kind of bumping them. i guess he was trying to send a message!
finally kael walked over to me and said "mom put em in time out".
my sweet little kael -- the enforcer!!

it's official~

i'm a shoplifter!
ok so yesterday i had mentioned that i had to take briea to the doctor for thrush. well usually we use Walgreen's for our pharmacy. however yesterday i was going to get some groceries so i had the pediatrician send the medicines to walmart and i thought i would just save myself a trip. so i got to walmart. did my shopping. went to the pharmacy and picked up brieas prescription. now while i was there. i did the consult with the doctor and watched the cashier scan the meds. so i took it and walked off. i went up to the front and payed for the rest of my groceries and left, not really thinking anything else of it.
this morning in was talking to a friend of mine on the phone when i got a beep. i looked at the caller id and laughed. my friend asked what i was laughing about and i said "walmart is calling me!" so i answered it. it was a lady from the pharmacy asking me if i had picked up brieas perscription. i told her that i had. she then proceeds to tell me that they have no record of me paying for it at any register. i instantly start to giggle because i tend to do that in somewhat stressful situations. trust me its something i have been working on. police men never find it funny when im giggling while they are writing my ticket. anyways- so i proceed to explain to her that i saw the cashier at the pharmacy scan it. i assumed it was covered under our insurance and that with some medications there is no charge or a minimal charge. i just thought it was covered and left. guess not. oh well we got it all taken care of and have no fear---the police will not be coming to get me anytime soon!!
(hmm should this go under the laugh instead of cry moments...=)

laugh rather than cry #2

after a long visit at the pediatricians office due to briea having thrush, i run to the store and then home to make dinner. (taco salad) kael decides to pick out what he likes and then before garran or i could even stop it, he dumps his plate with the ingredients that he does not like on the floor and hands me his plate and says "more please mommy"

early eggs~

so can you guess what we did at our house yesterday?
thats right we got a head start on easter and had some fun with some eggs.
cullan had been asking me about coloring eggs forever. so i gave in.
here is garran with his technique!
his finished project!

cullans finished egg-the pack came with stickers to make faces.

the eggs in the dye. the blue came out the best.
cullan coloring his egg getting it ready for the dye.
so many fun things to do at easter!
happy egg dying to everyone else out there!

fun around the house~

today we ran some errands early in the morning and then we watched conference at home. we have a tradition where i make what we call super bowl food for general conference. i always do a veggie tray with some kind of dip, some wings, some fruit, all kinds of fun stuff. so in between the two sessions we had fun just hanging out as a family and enjoying each others company. briea was being so good. she has been a trooper. over the past few days she has developed thrush. so she has been a little more grumpy than usual. she is still such a sweet baby though.
our boys of course were being little hams. they love the camera. i accidentally took this picture of kael.cullan then saw it on my camera when i was scrolling through some of the pictures and asked if he could do it too. i started laughing because the one with kael was just and accident, but i said sure. so here is cullan being too funny. he is such a cute boy!
then i wanted to take some pictures with the boys because i am always taking pictures, but am never in them. so i decided to hold my camera out and just try and get a few shots with me and my boys. here is how these came out=)my sweet cullanator.do i have some handsome kids or what! i think i might be in trouble down the road.

of course daddy got in on the fun too. i forget what i had them say, but they are always good for a funny picture together.

day trip~

so my friend jamie called me last week and invited me to go with her to visit our old roommate who lives about 2.5 hours from us. i was so excited because our old roommate michelle had just had her first baby in february and i had not seen him yet. not to mention i had not seen her in almost five years! so i was super excited about the whole trip.
so jamie and i headed out friday morning around 8:30 and we were on our way. my boys stayed home with garran and jamies older girls were with their grandparents, so we all just had our babies. so much fun.
meet brevin. (he really was happy to meet us.)see he calmed down.of course we had to let them all play together. it was the first time briea and brevin had ever met. i know they sound like twins. i guess they are pretty close. only a month apart.
we had a fun time chatting and catching up. then on the way home jamie and i stopped at this fun mall and went here-we dont have one in our town, but oh my goodness.. i could do some damage in this store. they had the cutest clothes. i needed a money tree in my backyard before i went there=)
so while i was there look what i found....

thats right.. the cutest bathing suit ever for lil miss. i just loved the flowers on the top.. everything. i love polka dots too. it is just so cute. i cant wait to take her swimming in it!
thanks jamie and michelle for such a fun day=)

rocking out~

the other night our boys were rocking out to their homemade guitars that our friend niki had given to them. she brought them over with stickers and the boys loved it. they decorated them and then were playing their guitars and singing into the microphone that she brought too. it was so much fun. we owe niki a big thank you for all the laughs we had that night.

cullan and kael rocking out
kael singing - not sure what- but he was belting it out
cullan rocking the guitar!
well i guess you can tell by the photo below how happy briea was with all the noise!
is that pitiful or what?

at one point cullan was playing a guitar, garran was playing a guitar and kael was singing on the microphone! i did not get a picture but i wish i would have. it was so funny.

WOO HOO~

ok friends.. the good news keeps rolling in. today garran was checking his email and found a wonderful little surprise. the man that runs the gallery that garrans piece is in right now sent him an email saying that a woman had contacted the gallery director about purchasing the piece that garran has in the show!!!!!
WOOOOO HOOOO!!!
we love when garran sells art work. im so excited for him. so garran emailed the woman today and we are just waiting to hear back from her to firm up the details.
just thought i would share some good news!

laugh rather than crying #1

The next time you’re tempted to groan, you might try to laugh instead. It will extend your life and make the lives of all those around you more enjoyable. Joesph Wirthlin
ok so recently i have been doing some reflecting. i have not been happy with myself and the way i have been dealing with the boys. i have found myself being very short tempered and quick to anger. i dont like yelling or getting upset with them and it really does not make things better with them either. they just get frustrated and are even harder to deal with. at least from my own personal experience. so today i had an idea. i was at church and we were having a lesson on Joseph B Wirthlins talk " Come what may and love it" . I always appreciated his ability to find humor in things. ok so hear was my idea. im going to try and combine what i learned from Wirthlins talk and from one of my favorite quotes from M. Hinckley "The only way to get through life is to laugh through it. You can either laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache!"
now this really is for myself. but because i use this blog as a way to remember things are family has done and just for my own personal record, this is where i will be recording it.
so hear is my first attempt at being better!

now i am not perfect right off the bat. but i did try. ok so within 30 minutes the other day this is what happened.-

i was in my room folding laundry and smelled something stinky. i walked into the boys room and kael had taken his diaper off and smeared poop on the carpet. (ok i was not laughing yet) i put him in time out and cleaned up the poop. while i was cleaning that up the timer had gone off and he had got down. got the grapes off the counter and dumped them all over the floor. so when i walked in the kitchen saw that i then sent kael back to his room. (still not laughing). so i got all the grapes picked up. sat down for a minute and then heard a funny noise. i went back to the boys room and kael had found a crayon. we now have a new mural on the wall. you can guess he went back to time out. but after i walked out of the kitchen from putting him in time out i just started laughing. i could not believe how naughty he had been in such a short amount of time. i just could not believe it. i was still upset but the laughing helped.

so hopefully there will be more entries of how i am getting better at laughing instead of getting angry. wish me luck

through culllans eyes~

today i was taking pictures at the primary activity and cullan asked if he could. i said yes and he loved it. i think he took like 20 pictures. when it was time to go he asked if he could hold it. i did not realize he understood the directions so well. i guess he turned it on while we were driving. so here is the world that cullan decided to capture while i was not looking. well this one i knew about. this was right before i left. i know i look rough. garran had been gone for three days..that is my excuess!
i guess this one too. cullan wanted to take a picture of his egg while it was in the cup!

chicago trip~

garran was away from us for a few days because he attended a conference in chicago called the southern graphics council international conference. his professor had invited him to go to learn all sorts of new things and make some contacts for grad school. while he was there they stayed in a hotel that was right in downtown chicago. so when he had some down time he ventured around and took some fun pictures! funky art in the cityfun view of the great buildings in chicagoand another fun one!random shot of downtown.
some other art folks that went to the conference. we are glad that garran had a good time, but we are even happier to have him home. we sure missed him!

primary activity~

Today was the primary activity at church. Now that Cullan is a sunbeam he gets to go. They learned all about easter and got to do a bunch of fun activities. The kids had a great time. Lil Miss slept the whole time. it is very tiring being so cute.
one of the activities was coloring easter eggs. cullan thought this was great. kael just crushed his egg before he even got to color his! oh well i dont even think he knows he missed anything.cullan was being so careful with his egg. i was really impressed.after dying eggs the listen to a story about easter and talked about why we celebrate easter. then it was time for lunch. cullan and kael are right there in the middle of the circle. =)
again cullan was super excited about his egg. it looks toxic or something in the picture. it looks neon green but really it was not that green. must have been from the flash. my little point and shoot camera doesnt always give you an option on if you want a flash or not!

perfect day~

today was awesome. with garran gone in chicago at an art conference with his professor i was really apprehensive about having all three kids by myself, just because i had not had much practice yet =)
so today went great. i got all three up and dressed and we headed out to do my visiting teaching. they were really well behaved and played nicely while we were visiting. then my friend and i took our kids to lunch. again all three kiddos were so well behaved. the boys did an awesome job and briea just slept in her car seat. i have to also say that while we were at the restaurant i was so impressed with this group of middle school boys. the place was packed and there were no tables available. we were standing their with our food and waiting for something to open up with all our kids. we waited maybe 3-4 minutes when this young man walked up to us and said that we could have their table. so this group of probably six middle school boys got up and gave us their table with out being prompted or anything. (i felt so old. my friend and i both said we wished we could meet their moms to tell them what gentlemen they were!)
anyways after lunch we headed to target to do a little shopping. i needed to get some stuff for briea and so we decided to just walk around and shop for a while. who doesn't love to walk around target. i was so impressed with the boys especially. no major meltdowns when i said that we would not be going to the toy section today and that they just needed to be patient while i was looking at a few things.
I LOVE DAYS LIKE THIS!!!
so i thought i would show off my cuties today since i am so happy with them.

my blonde haired blue eyed boy has been such a big helper!

kael passed out on the way home. shopping wears him out!

finally lil miss decided to wake up just as we were walking in the door. perfect timing!

we cant wait for daddy to get home tonight. cullan has been asking pretty frequently when daddy will be getting home.

beautiful insanity~

that is how i feel today. beautiful insanity. beautiful because today is the first day that i have had to be the mom of three with no help from my husband. insanity because today is the first day that i have had to be the mom of three with no help from my husband.
the day started with getting all three kids ready after completely missing my alarm. i must have turned it off in my sleep because i know that i set it. anyways we had to get three kids dressed and fed, out the door and we were only 7 minutes late getting cullan to mom school. not to bad. then briea, kael and myself took a trip to target. picking up a few things for the ladies that i visit teach. i am working on a little thing for them. then back to pick cullan up.
now we are home doing laundry, cleaning, breaking up fights and watching briea sleep. (secretly wishing i had an adult size bouncy seat to sit in and nap in too)
is it bad that i do not even want to think about dinner?
i should not complain. things could be worse. it could have been a few days ago when everyone was throwing up! =)
on a good note. i got to post two pictures on the photo blog i was playing with of briea. i have not had a chance to take as many pictures as i would like...oh well all will come in time!

poor garran~

so the other day i told garran that i had to run a few errands and he suggested that i just go ahead and go to get a small break from the kids. i told him that i would take briea because he was going to be outside playing with the kids. so i got to the store and realized i had missed a call from garran. so i thought i would listen to it before i got briea out and did all that stuff.
i dial up my voice mail and hear a very frustrated garran. i wish there was some way i could play it so that you could hear his exact message, but i will do my best to portray what i heard.
"hey meghan this is garran. i was wondering if you could come home. as i came back in from giving you your card (i had forgot my card) the boys locked me out. can you can rescue me"
so i called him to tell him i was on my way but he informed me that the boys had let him in. when he had gone outside, they had locked the bolt lock on him. after much begging and convincing through the door, the boys finally let him in.
i was laughing so hard listening to his message and then talking to him. it was so funny to hear him. i dont think he thought it was so funny. i guess i just say the humor in it. LOL

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
