stick with your gut

today garran was working in the studio. the kids and i decided to meet him for lunch, due to the fact that he was going to be there most of the day. when we met up with garran we were discussing when and where and how to eat. by how i mean should we go in to a place and sit down or just drive thru and figure something out. garran suggested that going in might not be the best idea but then we both decided on a place that is attached to a local grocery store and so our only option was to go in.
i decided i would order if garran would take the kids and go sit at the table. on their way to the table i hear garran say "NO NO NO". he was pushing briea in the stroller, only to turn around and see that cullan had helped himself to an apple from the grocery store. arrggg. this should have been our first warning sign that we should have just left then.
we order the food and the kids are just super restless for some reason. we are trying to eat and the kids speed through their food because they were really hungry i guess, so then there is idle time while garran and i are eating. the kids are playing with chop sticks, which are dropping on the floor, which of course in their minds requires them to go under the table to get them.
finally garran and i decided it was time to go. kael was carrying a drink and garran was pushing the stroller. cullan asked if he could push the stroller. (it was just our little umbrella one that we sometimes let him push) garran at first refuses. cullan starts to get upset and garran trying to be nice said he could help. well, his helping resulted in this. when he started to help he pulled the stroller a little in the wrong direction. by doing so he tripped kael. not only did kael fall but dumped his full drink all over the floor. did i mention cullan is still munching his stolen apple at this point!!!
so i just start laughing. really what could i do. everyone was looking at us like we were crazy or something. i just told garran i would go pay for the apple and he said he would get the kids loaded up. cullan asked if he could stay with me and i said yes. i was thinking this would give me a chance to explain to him why it was not a good idea to take apples from a grocery store stand and show him that we had to pay for it. on the way over, i take the apple from cullan so that i can give it to the cashier. of course she smiles at him and asks if his apple is yummy. no big help there. cullan just smiled.
i don't know if this was as funny to anyone else as it was to us. well while it was happening it was stressful..however now we can look back and have a good laugh.

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
