a short-cut

tonight brought a big surprise! all three of our kids are not feeling very well. they have been coughing and had fevers hanging between 102-103. anyways, we were sitting in the living room and out of no where Kael says that he wants a short-cut. (this is what our boys call getting a hair cut). garran and i looked at each other bewildered. our kids hate getting their hair cut. they literally scream through most of it. they hate the hair getting all over them and we have tried everything to make it better, but it has not worked. so you can see why we were shocked when Kael said that he wanted a short cut. when we asked him why he wanted a short cut, he replied " i want to look like daddy and Ollie". Oliver is a friend of theirs that recently had his had shaved due to cancer that he is battling. a large group of friends shaved their heads as well. i guess kael decided better late than never!
he hopped right up in the chair in the kitchen, garran got the clippers and went to town. we stopped half way through because Kael wanted to see the progress. he did not think this picture was as funny as we did. garran and i just thought it was to funny!
here he is with the finished project and after a bath. there are a few places we need to touch up, but for the most part he was all done. after his bath, we were sitting on the couch and kael looked at me and said, "Mom, I love my short-cut!". He then gave me a kiss. He is a cute kid and i love him.

Sam is the same way about hair cuts - he screams, cries and squirms through the whole thing. I dread it when his hair is getting too long.

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."

-President Gordon B. Hinckley
