Tomorrow....

Tomorrow, Tomorrow,
we'll find out tomorrow,
It's only a day....a....way!

Just in case you think I am crazy, Garrans has a meeting tomorrow to find out if he got the teaching position. Either way, I am really proud of him for making it as far as he did in the interview process! Guess we will just have to wait and see!

joy.

anyone who says that children do not bring joy and laughter into your life have obviously not met my kids yet.
today while sitting at the table, eating lunch with my kids, we had the following conversation.

Cullan: Mom, are you allergic to camels?
Me: No
Kael: Are you allergic to dogs?
Me: No
Cullan: Are you allergic to Cats?
Me: Yes.
Kael: So if we got to a pet store, we could not bring home a cat?
Me: Right.
Cullan: But....we could bring home a Camel!!
Me: UM NO!

Cullan: Am I allergic to cats?
Me: No.
Cullan: Oh so just girls are allergic to cats.
Kael: Ya not BOYS!
Me: No, some boys are allergic to cats too. Not just girls.
Cullan: I think I am allergic to girls.

by that point I was laughing to hard to remember what else was said.
Happy Monday!

magic

today is our 7th anniversary.
our kids have started to say that garran and I are like "magic" because we tend to say things at the same time.
i have to agree, i feel like we are magic too.
happy 7th anniversary to the love of my life!

budding artist

Cullan has been drawing like crazy lately. We even bought him his own sketch book. He has almost filled the whole thing, with actual pictures. Not just scribbles. Anyways he drew this today. He told me it is a birthday card for his next birthday that I am supposed to save and give to him.
I know that every mom thinks their kid is great, but I love his drawings, and i am so impressed with how well he is doing with writing his name. I did not help him at all. His name on here is all his own. Now we are starting to work on his last name. It is a little bit longer so it is taking a little time!

Cullan's explanation

a little while ago, Cullan had this hat on and so he asked me if he looked liked a golfer. I said that he did. He then told me that he wished he had one of those golfing spatulas (golf club) so that he could hit one of those whiffle balls. then he said he needed some of those metal nails to put the balls on.
i love listening to his explanation of things sometimes.

my view!

today i took the van to have it worked on. i decided to stay at the place since it was not going to take very long and i did not have any of the kids with me. anyways this nice old fella came and sat down after I had been there for about 5 mins. We talked a little and then he dosed. I decided to snap this picture because at this point he was snoring like crazy. I thought it was funny because it looks like that Michelin Man is throwing a tire at him to wake him up!

updates and randoms.

well, we have been so busy and not necessarily doing fun things so this is just a post of what has been going on with us.

Garran spoke with one of the professors that sat on the panel that interviewed him. She said that his interview went really well and that he was to modest about his talent. However she told him that that played to his favor. So we will see what happens. Keeping our fingers crossed. They said a few weeks and they will let everyone know.

*************************************************

i went to register Cullan for kindergarten and got a nasty little surprise when arriving. they had not sent me this like 15 page packet of information that I needed to fill out and they also failed to send any kind of information saying that we would have to pay $120.00 to register him. (yes we pay taxes in illinois for school, and no that does not cover any supplies or anything like that.) I found out that we have to pay that every year and for each child. So next year it will cost me $240.00 to register the kids for school. I know this is my first kid heading off to school, but I about feel over. That seemed like a lot of money to send my kid to public school and buy supplies on top of all of that.

************************************************

Ayla is cutting her first tooth, so she has been a little grumpy lately.. poor girl just can not catch a break. first being so sick and then the teeth. sigh. oh well. on other exciting news with her, today I bought my first size two diapers for her. the reason this is such a big deal is because by 5 months, my other kids were in size 3 and even 4 diapers. She is just our little string bean.

************************************************

Kael has screening for Preschool coming up. I am hoping that he gets in this year. I think he will be miserable with Cullan gone all day. They play together so much and Kael is so ready for school. I am really hoping that they have a spot for him. We will have to wait and see. Here's to keeping our fingers crossed on that as well.

***********************************************

Other than that, life as normal. We found out yesterday that we have to replace the brakes on our van. I was not excited about that. Some days it just seems like money flies out of your hands before you even get a chance to know what to do with it. Oh well. It has to be done.

Well Ayla woke up and is not happy. Off to cook dinner and wrangle the troops ;0)
Hope everyone is having a Happy Wednesday!

fingers.

she loves those fingers.
she is my only kiddo that has ever wanted to suck on those fingers.
i know that everyone says that i should push the binki because those are easier to break than getting your kids to stop sucking on their fingers, but I just can not help it.
i mean look at how cute she is. I will try and stop it later, but for now she is just to dang cute.

interview

t - 10 ...9..8...7..6...5
yep that is right, the countdown is on. today at 3:30pm Garran goes for his interview to see if he will be receiving and teaching position next year working with undergrad art students. I am so excited for him. I know he would be amazing at this. It is what he wants to eventually do. I keep praying that it goes well. I really want it to. I know that there are a lot of others out there, but he did make the first cut to even get an interview,  so that gives me hope. I mean besides the fact that he is incredibly talented. So say a prayer, cross your fingers, what ever you do, send good luck our way!!

chatting

i love when she is chatty like this. it is so sweet!

skills

Sorry about the quality. I took this with my ipod. it was the closest thing i could find.

This girl has skills. I mean really. WOW! This is what happened in the time it took me to change Ayla's diaper. I mean really. I don't know if you can see, but it is all over her feet, all up her legs, all over her rear end, and of course her hands. Sometimes I think this little girl will be the end of me. But then she gives me that sweet smile and I think of that song by Darius Rucker. I will have to find it and post it.

big kid

Garran was scanning some stuff and needed my help with organizing it. As I was going through the images of papers that he had scanned, I came across this. I looked at him and he smiled like a kid. He said, "Ya I scanned my face!"
He is such a big kid sometimes!

poor baby.

this little girl has been sick all week.
finally got into the doctor yesterday, just in time for Garran to leave town. He is in St. Louis at a Conference called SGC. Anyways, I knew she was sick, but after leaving the doctors, I was told to head for the hospital. We did a couple of cultures and a chest x ray.
here is what we found out.
tested negative for RSV
tested positive for influenza A
has a some infection in her lungs. they were not sure if it was bacterial or viral so they have her on strong antibiotics in hopes that it is bacterial and will knock it out quickly.
on top of antibiotics, she is on an inhaler and tylenol for fever.
as i am typing, my eyes are burning and want to close. I can not wait for my parents to get here and also for garran to get home later this weekend.
I am hoping she is over this soon and that I get my sweet happy baby back quickly!

The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go.

our story

My photo
Midwest, United States
I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
