preschool conferences

today was cullan's spring parent teacher conferences at pre-school. his teacher had nothing but wonderful things to say about him. she said he had really changed since the beginning of the year. he has really come out of his shell and is much more social and engaged in his class. he had improved on counting, identifying numbers, colors, letters. It was very exciting to see his growth. I could tell from practicing at home that he had gotten a lot better as well. Anyways, the teacher was explaining to me that all year long they listen to this cd. It is set to music and it talks about this character. As it plays, it goes, it describes the character, like Max has one head and two eyes. As the music plays the kids have to draw what they hear.
Cullan's drawing from the beginning of the year.
Cullan's drawing at the end of the year. Much more detail.
They also interviewed Cullan. I thought I would post it, only because this is a family journal and it will be fun to look back and remember it.

his teacher than shared some very sweet stories with me. she said that cullan was one of the most compassionate kids in the room. every mom loves to hear stuff like this about their child. she said that he is very attentive to someone having a bad day and that the other day in particular just melted her heart. she said that Cullan was standing next to a little girl in his class that has to wear leg braces. the teacher said that she is a little wobbly and falls often. i guess cullan was standing near her, and she fell. the teacher said that cullan had nothing to do with it, but he thought that he did. She said that he bent down by here and kept saying, "I'm so sorry friend" Then he helped her up and gave her a hug.
I am so happy that cullan is kind to others. I have seen evidence of that with how patient he is with briea. she will pull his hear or lay on him and he just says "oh miss". So that is cullan's big report. I am so pleased that he is doing so well. I know he will miss his friends and school when we leave in a few weeks.

What a sweet heart. That's wonderful that he's so compassionate at such a young age.

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
