sweet heart tag~

ok i saw this on another blog and thought it was cute, plus i am up late doing laundry and figured why not. something to kill the time until the dryer goes off.
(i had to laugh..isn't he just super cute!)

  • WHAT IS YOUR HUSBANDS NAME? garran
  • HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN MARRIED? 4 years and 6 months
  • HOW LONG DID YOU DATE? 10 months...well it was ten months from the start of dating to proposal then an additonal three months and ten days till we were married.
  • HOW OLD IS YOUR HUSBAND?28
  • WHO IS TALLER? garran, by a lot. he is at least a whole head taller than me.
  • WHO SINGS BETTER? garran by far. kael always cries when i sing to him. he has since he was an infant. garran has a great singing voice, but he rarely sings anywhere besides home and sacrament.
  • WHO IS SMARTER? um depends on what you are talking about. he would say me and i would say him. i am better at life situations and dealing with things like that. book smart however goes to my husband. come on he likes to read economic books for fun. (i know makes him sound nerdy, but he is really cool!)
  • WHO DOES THE LAUNDRY? well we both do the actual laundry. however once it comes out of the dryer it is all mine. i am weird about the way things are folded. not so controlling that if he does it, i redo it. however he knows i don't mind folding it and so he just lets me so that i will be happy with how it is folded and organized.
  • WHO PAYS THE BILLS? i do. i have from the beginning. he makes the money and i send it out the door =) i am also weird about money. i have to know what we have and where we are at financially all the time. it does not bother garran as much, but i am a bit of a planner and organizer. it is a nice balance in our marriage.
  • WHO SLEEPS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BED? garran
  • WHO MOWS THE LAWN? we don't really have to worry about it because we are renting, but i am guessing when we do it will be both of us. that is something else i don't really mind doing.
  • WHO COOKS DINNER? that would also be me. more just because if garran is even home for dinner it is usually him walking in the door at 6:30. so i cook just so that we can eat when he gets home instead of it being really late. however when he does cook it is yummy!
  • WHO IS THE FIRST TO ADMIT THEY ARE WRONG? usually garran. however i have to admit i have been trying to be better and now most days it would almost be a tie.
  • WHO KISSED WHO FIRST? this is also up for debate. we had dated a little while maybe a month or two and did not kiss. (long story behind that) anyways one night garran was dropping me off at my car and i had to reach behind his seat to get my bag. now hear is where it gets blurry. i say as i reached back for the bag he kissed me. he says that when i reached for my bag, i leaned in and kissed him. i know that is not true, but it is always up for debate.
  • WHO WEARS THE PANTS? i would say it depends on the situation..he might say me =) he likes to tease me and say that he always has to check with the boss..referring to me. i usually roll my eyes and laugh because he knows i worry people will think i am so kind of controlling weirdo!!
well know you know all about us. i tag whoever wants to do this little sweet heart tag. let me know if you do though so that i can read all about you guys =)

suggestions welcome~

so here is my problem. well not so much of a problem as a project. this rocking chair has been in my family for some time. i know it was my moms and i think her moms as well. when i was little my mom had it in my room. it used to be shiny and had a girl on the back with little lambs i think. anyways in one of the moves it got damaged and my step dad had to repair it. when he did that he decided to sand it down.

last time we were at my moms she gave it to me for my kids. (which i am so thankful for, i love family heirlooms) anyways she had mentioned that between garran and i, she was sure we could come up with a new way to paint it. garran and i have been talking about it for some time. i was thinking it would be cool to some how incorporate my mom and grandmother into the chair. we have talked about painting some kind of tree on the seat with family names or doing something more modern like painting it a solid color and doing circles on it with names in the circles. i have been going to all kinds of websites for ideas. i just have not seen anything that has really inspired me. so i know there are some crafty people out there that read this blog. so i am asking for your help. if you have any ideas or know of any good websites, i would love to know about them.

this picture really has nothing to do with my project. kael just really loves being in pictures...ie center of attention. so i snapped this of him drinking his juice. he is such a ham!!

more cuteness than i know what to do with~

today is a rainy cold blah day. we have been singing songs and playing, but right now the boys are watching bob the builder. i had snapped a few photos from the last few days that i thought i would share. i know i am bias but sometimes they are so dang cute!

this was us trying on different halloween costumes. cullan loves his thomas outfit. he has asked to wear it everyday since we tried it on. kael is trying to decide between elmo and a lion. but they were just so cute!

and these are the yummy suckers the boys enjoyed after lunch. i love the picture of kael. he is so sweet and i love the backwards hat, sucker and new dino pjs.

grad school blah~

so i thought i would be helpful and try and get some information together about the schools that garran is thinking about applying to. just so we know when their deadlines are, what their requirements are, especially portfolio wise. argg. can i just say i was not anticipating this being so stressful. one of the schools we will need to have everything sent off before christmas. plus applying is expensive and i hate it. why should we have to pay almost 100.00 per school for the possibility of getting one little sheet of paper either saying yes or no. on top of that i think i am just feeling stress because in less than a year we will hopefully move and i have no idea where because it all hinges on where we get accepted to school and where garran decides to go. in a way i wish we could just be done in may, but i know that we need to keep going for garran to have the opportunities to do what he really wants to do. plus we have come this far, why not keep going right! sorry for my whining.. gotta run to get cullan at mom school! happy thursday to everyone!

have to laugh~

ok i saw this on someone else's blog and had to laugh. meet a baby girl the computer generated by garran and my pictures! who knows how close this is or why she is in a duck costume. oh well just for fun. i am getting excited to see what this little girl looks like for real!

lil miss~

so i have been busy reading all about baby stuff, just because i guess that is what you do when you are pregnant. anyways i came across this one article talking about how by this point your baby has already established sleep patterns and usually has a favorite way of sleeping. (position wise) i don't remember really paying any attention to it when we were pregnant with the boys, but i have to laugh when it comes to this lil miss! she seems to really be waking up just as i am winding down and getting ready for bed. i guess i don't know how true this article is but if it is i will start praying she gets active a lot earlier in the day and not at bed time! =)

so sweet~

such great friends...

so since i have been home from my ultrasound two of my good girl friends dropped by and dropped of these. they know how excited i have been to find out. my friend stacy brought over this cute little pink and purple unicorn! kael really loved it but i had to explain it was for the baby. i think he will struggle the most with this new baby getting lots of attention.

then my friend mandy came by and dropped of this outfit. is it not the cutest. i love polka dots. i was holding it while we were chatting and i looked at the tag. i was just amazed at how small a newborn outfit looks. they always look so tiny to me. but it is so cute. i can not wait to put this little girl in it.

thanks so much ladies for being so excited with me. garran just smiles and rolls his eyes when i talk about how cute little girls clothes are. he is excited, he just likes to tease me about all the girlie stuff that is now bound to enter our home!

were about 85% ~

so here is what happened today at our ultrasound. the baby looks great. everything is healthy and normal. unfortunately the baby is breech right now. this makes it very hard to see the gender. plus our little one kept those knees closed tightly. our ob was extremely patient and took her time looking and looking. every once in a while the baby would squirm and move but not really being to immodest. finally our doctor got a pretty good shot. she said that she was about 85% sure but that she wants to do one more ultrasound in 4 weeks at my next appointment just to make sure. so we are pretty confident in saying that it is a girl.... woooo hoooo. garran was laughing saying that i had a permanent smile on my face. our ob laughed and said, "well if you buy any clothes within the next four weeks to hang on to the receipts just in case!". i am thinking it is a girl though.. so we are excited for the next appointment just to make sure. but i am definitely headed to check out some pretty pink clothes.

this is it~

this is every ones last chance to get their final votes in. tomorrow at 11:15 hopefully we will know what is coming to our family. a sweet little boy or a cute little girl! we are getting so excited. hopefully our baby is not to modest, but i am hope full. we were able to find out with both the boys. so if your interested check the blog tomorrow around 1:00 or so. it might take me a while to pick up the kiddos and finish running errands! hope everyone is having a great sunday!

big birthday fun~

last night we had a small little party for cullan and kael. they each got to have a friend. (kael invited a friend to cullans birthday because his was just a short family party) anyways they all had a lot of fun and it was fun visiting with the adults that came too! i think it was as much of a party for us as it was for them. as always i have some pictures to show off. here we go.....

this was the cake-

a big thanks to charity for taking the time to make a thomas cake. cullans little eyes lite right up when i took the cover off and he saw that there was a thomas cake underneath.

these were the party guests!

the little blonde girl in the red is only two months older than cullan and we have lived super close to their family ever since the two were born, except for right now =(.

this was the singing

cullan and kael bang on the table during happy birthday as part of the family tradition!

this was the blowing of candles

what i did not get a picture of was that garran let everyone else have a turn too. isn't blowing out the candles one of the best part. all the kids enjoyed it.

this is the morning after

these we gifts to the boys and they wanted to wear them immediately last night. so this was this morning, the first chance i had to get a picture of them with their new pj's on.

Thanks Mandy and Isaac!

overall i think everyone had a great time. oh how much fun it must be to 3!

throwing it out there~

i know that politics and the elections are touchy subjects. however i was sent this video and thought i would post it despite controversy. if you are planning on voting yes to prop 8 or if you are in favor of it, you might be interested in watching this video.

3~

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY CULLAN DEAR!

well it is obvious that we have loved cullan from the moment he joined our family, however i thought that i would put a few things on here that we especially love about him right now! just so that someday we can look back and say "this was what was great about you at 3!"

  • he loves loves loves to sing and here are some of his favorite songs- muffin man, alligator song, abc's, & latter day prophets. oh yeah and "no more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
  • along with singing cullan really enjoys dancing. especially early in the morning to the disney show imagination movers. watch out, he really gets that little booty shaking!
  • he is a really good big brother to kael. he always makes sure that kael is ok in the morning and he will come out and report to me "mom, kael still sleeping, ok" he is very sweet.
  • right now his favorite snack is banana muffins and while he eats you have to know that he can be heard singing through a mouth full of muffin " yes i know the muffin man, muffin man, muffin man!"
  • i am really happy that he is making friends and really enjoying mom school this year! it is fun to watch them grow and learn.
  • those blue eyes! need i say more?
  • lastly anyone who knows cullan knows that he is pretty passionate about things. he really loves to have fun and enjoy his life. so with great passion comes great stubbornness! but that is ok, we love him just the way he is!
so far today cullan has had a so so day. it started with a trip to the dentist (long story - i will have to blog later) and then to church to play with kids while i went to an FHE exchange. but later this afternoon we are going to have a little party and some cake and ice cream. you know there will be more pictures to come! so for now we just wanted to say how much we love cullan and how grateful we are that he is part of our family! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUBBADO!

the last....

before i went to bed i had to blog about a last and an anniversary of sorts.
first today is the last day i can say that i have two-two year olds!
every year i will have about two and a half weeks where i can say i have two of something ...
3-4-5 year old. you get the idea!
also garran likes to joke that tonight is the anniversary of the last good night sleep we ever got. it was the last time we slept without any good children crying in the middle of the night, calling out our names, or wondering in our room and trying to climb into bed with us.
don't get me wrong, we have loved every minute of the last three years, its just an anniversary that we like to joke about!

the anticipation.........

IS KILLING ME!

ok i know that i am not the only one that has been in this position, but i am dying to get to monday. i don't really care either way, i know i joke constantly about it being a girl, but really i just want to know. we almost got to know last appointment when we had the heartbeat scare. we had an ultrasound, just to check, the baby was fine! our doctor knows that we are super excited to know and so she tried to see. she was scanning and looking, garran got excited at one point but my doctor reassured him he was looking at the umbilical cord. it was still just a little to early. so hopefully this monday we will have an immodest baby! not to mention i keep walking through stores looking at newborn clothes just dying to start looking for stuff. we had to get rid of pretty much all of our stuff that the boys went through due to stains and things like that (they both had stomach issues the first couple of months) so we are starting from scratch and i am excited. if we have a girl my sister in law has some stuff she is going to send us because she had two girls but other than that i am ready to start looking for cute outfits!

family pics~

while i am not ever a big fan of having a picture taken while i am prego i am always excited to take family pictures and it is that time again. i have the boys picture taken each year around there birthday and then a family shot and one of garran and i as well. the hang in our living room and i always enjoy looking at them. so this was just one we took at the house. we have them done professionally each year. but i thought this one was pretty cute.

--------------------------------------------------------------

(yes in case you were wondering it is 5:00 and kael is still in his cars pj's , he was really enjoying them today so i figured why not. somedays i am in my pjs all day too =)

a super big
THANK YOU
my mom for the fun Halloween package that she sent to the boys. she was nice enough to send them a Halloween thomas movie with the haunted engine and two fun pumpkin lights. the boys both wanted to have their picture taken with theirs. it is so funny. cullan looks so serious in his picture, like he really means business!
thanks again mom, the boys love them and are watching the movie right now (thus the reason i can blog real quick)

half way there~

today marks the half way point of a couple fun things! here they are~
----------------------------------------------------
half way through this pregnancy. it has gone by so fast. i know some of you might look at my ticker and think, she has a whole other week before twenty weeks. that is true. however due to a lovely fourth degree tear with cullan they will never let me go past 38 weeks. cullan was 9 lbs 2oz at 41 weeks. kael was 9 lbs 2 oz at 38 weeks. so you can imagine they just get bigger. i had always hoped that the babies would take after my side. i was 6lbs 7oz when i was born and my sister was 7lbs 11oz. unfortunately the take after my husbands side. garran was 10lbs and some ozs! he has a sister that was 11 something and his mom had no medication. by the time she got there they said she just had to do it on her own. when she told me the story she said she was ripping the bed sheets off during that delivery. i thought that was pretty good. i would be happy if i had not strangled someone at the end of that. =) so since 19 is half of 38, i am half way-
WOO HOO!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
another half way is we are half way to halloween. i always think it is fun to get the kids dressed up, decorate pumpkins, all that. fall is my absolute favorite time of year and so i try and take advantage of all of it. i love going to pumpkin patches and just doing fun fall things and halloween things too!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
lastly, we are half way done with the semester. half way closer to having garran home for a whole month. i am super excited about that. i can hardly wait. i love the holidays, and while i am excited that he will have a week of for thanksgiving, that month over christmas is just making me smile. we always love to have daddy home with us! he makes the days so much more fun.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
so that is it-that is everything we are half way closer too.
have a great tuesday blog readers!

doing away with nicknames~

i have been going back and forth about if i should do away with nicknames or not. sometimes it gets annoying with using them. i feel like i do not use any thing that identifies where we live so if i ever have an issue i think i will just go private. however for now you will know our first names--just not our last!

we're going to party....

like its october!
october in our house is pretty much party month. we have at least two parties with each of the boys on their individual birthdays and then usually we have a couple with different sets of grandparents. well last night was sargentos parents and my dads! then friday is curls individual one. anyways here are some pictures of last night. we had a really good time! birthdays are always a big deal at sargentos parents house. his mom makes cool cakes or your favorite dessert (your choice)! also they sing their traditional 20 minute birthday song. i will have to get video of it sometime, it is so funny.
the birthday cake

with the candles starting to glow(sorry it's blurry)

starting on all the birthday songs, curls was beating on the table a little early.

then we had to re-light some half way because curls got a little excited.

almost done!

more pictures to come.. dumb blogger would not upload!

proposals~

so this one requires some help from anyone who reads my blog. sargento and i were talking about engagements the other night after watching a show where a guy did a not so great job at proposing. of course that sparked conversation of our own, at which we both now laugh about. every proposal is special, but some just go smoother than others. ours was not smooth at all. here is our story!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
sargento and i had been dating for almost a year. (we had been friends for about a year a a half before this) so things were just kind of going the same way dating and having fun, but i kind of asked him if he ever say this going anywhere farther than us dating. (i was kind of curious) plus other people were starting to ask us too. sargento had never really talked about marriage seriously, we might joke, but nothing really serious. so in november of 2003 we had been dating for 9 months seriously. so i just said i think we should kind of decide where this is going. if we are just going to date and be friends or are we going to get married sometime. he said he would think about it and let me know by Christmas. i was completely ok with that. i thought even if he did want to get married it would be awhile. so on december 13th he came over to my house. i was living alone because my roommate had moved out and on this day i was super sick. i had a head cold and was flipping through channels and ended up watching Brave Heart on TV. all of a sudden there was a knock on my door. to my surprise it was sargento. he said he had come in to town early because he had to work that day and thought he would stop by for a little while. so i was excited to see him and we just sat on the couch kind of chatting and watching brave heart. well it came to the part in the move where mel gibson and the girl get married secretly in the woods and i could tell that sargento was getting really fidgety. i thought "oh great, what is wrong with him, is he going to break up with me or something". so he kept fidgeting for a while and then started kind of talking about marriage. asking me sweet little questions about if i could love him forever and things like that. i of course said yes. he also started telling me all the reasons he loved me and why he enjoyed being with me. then i thought he must not be feeling well because he was looking pale and still super fidgety. all of a sudden he blurts out.."i think we should get married" he then said he was sure that life would go on without me, but that he would rather have me with him then not. a little confused i looked at him and said are you asking? he looked at me confused and said yes! so then i said oh ok well then YES!! right after that he looked at the clock realized he was late for work and ran out the door. i was shocked. this guy proposes and then runs out my door. so i run over to my window and yell down as he is getting into his car, "I think you should come back after work, we might want to talk about this a little" he agreed and came back around 9:15 that night. i guess part of me wanted to make sure that he still was serious! (just because he looked so nervous)
now we laugh about him jumping up and running out the door. he told me later that night that he had no intention of proposing that day. he said all of a sudden he just sort of did. so i had no ring or anything like that. just a funny story to tell about a nervous boy proposing and running away!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
so now i want to hear all of yours. they don't have to be as detailed if you don't want to share, but i love hearing how people got engaged. i know some of you read this but don't leave comments due to not having gmail, so you can email them to me if you want. i am excited to hear every ones stories!

mom school~

today curls had mom school on an irregular day, but he had a blast. he talked about it the whole way home and he was actually pretty proud of the craft that he made, which is definitely a first for my son. usually he is not all that into the craft stuff. (painting and drawing yes... crafts no) you can tell he belongs to sargento! anyways today when i picked him up he was showing me his craft and even wanted to hold it the whole way home. so i thought this made it blog worthy. here is curls with the pumpkin he made. it is proudly placed on top of our entertainment center. he was so cute when i took his picture, he kept saying "this is my pumpkin" over and over! he is such a a funny boy! thanks NJ~ for such a fun mom school.

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
