I had a birthday...

shout HOORAY!
I still can't believe this is what my kids were wearing on my birthday this year.
NOVEMBER 18th.
They were in shorts, flip flops. In Heaven we were!
For part of my birthday, Garran took a half day at work and surprised me by coming home early.
Then we took the kids to pick out an ornament like we do every year.
Then we came home.
Put up the Christmas decorations...
(as this is our family tradition)
When Garran and I were first married we were beyond poor and so without a gift, Garran came up with the one thing for my birthday that he knew would make me happy.
We put up the Christmas decorations.
So ever since then, the Christmas stuff goes up on the weekend of my birthday!
Next we had dinner.
Ribs.
Briea was so funny. She actually didn't eat very much of the ribs, but this picture cracked me up!
Cullan and his obsession with ketchup on his mashed potatos!
And then it was time for cake.
Well this is what happens when you are a busy mom, it is your birthday and you don't feel like or have time to make your own cake.
It was either Duck Dynasty or a cake with a very large turkey on it.
I opted for Duck Dynasty.
It was a big hit with the kids.

Ayla of course loved the cupcakes.
She is so sassy with her chocolate beard!
Of course I had to sport a little Duck Dynasty bling from my cake!
All in All it was a pretty good 33rd birthday.
Here is looking forward to another year and to everything it holds in store.

3.

Ayla turned 3 on the 21st of October.
Yep she is 3.
I know... I can't believe it either.
This girl is sassy, sweet, princess lovin, dare deviling, jumping from anything she can and then giving hugs, kissies, and squeezes!
Happy 3rd Birthday to the baby of our family!

Cullan's Birthday

So besides his big day being baptized, this kid turned 8 on the 17th of October.
We celebrated at home with a dinner picked by Cullan and Mario Mushroom cupcakes.
It was a fun night and we were so happy to celebrate all 8 years of and awesome kid!

Someone Had a Birthday!

 7.
Not sure how we got here.
He is seven.
Just the other day, he was born.
He was a squishy sweet baby who Garran says probably got kissed the most out of all our children because his cheeks were just irresistible.
No he is a first grader, that is kind and polite.
His teacher raved about him at his last conference saying he was the sweetest kid in her class.
That he is so kind to others and that he was always quick to share and help.
Here he is about to blow out his candles!!
Happy 7th Birthday KB!
We love you more than you could ever know.

I pray for our love to be forever.

Right from the day we began to court.

My love on your birthday beautiful memories I reckoned.

Happy Happy Birthday Garran.
I love you  more than words and I am excited to see what adventures you will take on this year.

Two Years Ago.....

Two years ago today...
this was us.
In a hospital room introducing our three sweet children to their new little sister.
I can not believe how fast time has gone by.
How did we go from this ......
to this!!
I mean, we would not trade our energized, into everything two year old for anything. I just can't believe how time flies. I always feel a little sad on my kids birthdays. I am sure they would never know that. I just know that time is going to keep going and that they will continue to grow. Someday they will be off living their lives and I will just have my pictures and memories to think back on of when they were little. Hopefully they still love me enough to come and visit, but I will always treasure the time I have with them when they are little.

I know I know.

I know I already posted once, but when I picked him up...
He just looked older!!!

7.

Time really does fly.
I remember this sweet little boy. It seems like just yesterday that I was chasing these little blonde bouncy curls everywhere.
Now he is 7.
A big kid.
He likes power rangers, transformers and all the typical boy things.
He is my little engineer. Always building things from around the house. Putting things together to make something new. I can not believe 7 years have passed by with him in our lives. It seems like not all that long ago I was holding my first born and never wanting to forget that new baby smell and all the sweetness that went with it.
Happy 7th Birthday Cullan.
We love you so much!!

birthday songs

Birthdays are always fun. Especially when you get fun videos from family and friends like this. This video was for Kael from Garran's oldest sister Jerusha. I love it. They are so much fun and it made Kael so happy to see all of his cousins and Uncle Joe!
thanks guys for sending us a fun video.

6

I can't believe it is here.
My little Lion Man is 6 years old.
I can't imagine my life without my sweet boy.
I call him my lion man because he is loud and rough and strong like a lion but soft and sweet and tender at the same time!
He is a great little boy and I am proud to call him ours.
Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Birthday Kiddo!!
We love you!
(ps. due to sickness and pain I missed the majority of his birthday today. So that is why I have no pictures or great stories. I am going to make it up to him in the very near future. He was such a good sport and I am so thankful my mom was hear to sing Happy Birthday to him while I was in the ER)
Thanks Mom!

Golden Birthday!

July 11th was Oliver Palmer's Golden Birthday.
The Palmer's did a balloon release at his grave side, but obviously we could not be there.
So...We decided to do one on our own.
Here are our balloons. All bagged up.
We bought these balloon stickers to decorate them and spell out his name!
Then we each took turns writing Oliver a message.
I had the kids tell me what they wanted to say, because I did not want to risk popping a balloon.

I forgot to get one of Garrans because he came home late from a meeting and we just went outside with the last bit of day light we had.
We attached this little baseball to one of the balloons.
Oliver loved baseball.
I thought it was cute and the kids loved it.
Here goes the big moment!
Our big release!!!!
Happy Golden Birthday Sweet Boy!

5 Short Years.

Five short years ago today we had already dropped Cullan off at our "Friendly Neighbors" house.
I left in tears. I don't know if it was hormones or what. I was sad that I would be leaving Cullan for three days. I was scared about giving birth again. All I could think was that if something went wrong, I would be leaving this sweet little boy and Garran. I know. It sounds dramatic, but I am a worrier by nature. Anyways, by now we were sitting in the hospital. I had the nicest nurse ever. Garran and I still had not decided on a name and so we were discussing things and waiting for our sweet baby boy.
I remember wondering how I could love another baby as much as I loved Cullan.
However after my easiest labor of all four, my fears were put to rest.
It was love at first sight.
He was adorable and I could not imagine my life without him, even though he had only been with us for a few short minutes.
And now....
5 Years Later
Here he is.
Handsome, Energetic, Social, Funny, Dramatic, and so full of LIFE!
Kael has so many wonderful characteristics. We love him more everyday.
These last 5 years have gone by so fast. It feels like we were just at the first picture.
We Love You More Than You May Ever Know!!
Happy 5th Birthday
Kael!

our story

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
