Wednesday, January 14, 2009

this is what i saw this morning when i woke up: this is what i read when i woke up this morning on the local news website:
More snow fell during the overnight hours with reports of up to 7" . The storm is moving away and as the wind increases the snow will blow around. Temperatures will drop below zero today and staying below zero until Friday afternoon. Temperatures tonight and tomorrow night will drop down into the 20s below zero. Wind chills today through Friday morning will range from 30-45 below zero.

i am supposed to go to my friends house today and make my soon to be little girls baby blanket. however i am going to have to give it some time because as of right now the roads are to bad to go =( I am hoping by noon things are better. maybe some plows will be able to get out!
is anyone else feeling the urge for spring to get here?

sleeping boys~

little boys should never by made to go to bed-they always wake up another day older.

b-b-b-blizzard~

today when i woke up garran informed me that we were under a blizzard warning which then turned into an actual blizzard. i ran quick to the store to get some milk and a few other things we needed and then returned home. we had a pretty relaxed day of still catching up on laundry and having tickle fights with the boys. they are so funny. they run and climb under the blankets of our bed while we pretend like we can not see them. then all of a sudden we attack.
anyways after all that fun, cullan asked if they could go outside and play in the snow. since i am not really in a great state to roll around and play in the snow, i just took pictures. garran played though and they had lots of fun!-the boys having snowball fights with daddy--cullan making snow angels-
(this one makes me laugh out loud looking at it every time)
garran starting to push kael down the hill, however there was so much snow it was a little to thick and ......
-i was laughing so hard this is the only picture that i got, however i am glad to say that he saved it and end up not falling--take two of kael going down the hill--one of the cutest little boys playing in the snow i have ever seen--being a very useful engine. (those are cullans words not mine)-

-kael giving up, i think he was getting cold--cullan showing me exactly what a snow ball looks like--hmm what is garrans face saying to you? i think he might be ready to go inside--another perfect example of cuteness in the snow!-

(don't worry he had mittens on. this was right before we went in. he took his gloves off and then realized it was a big mistake)

-all tuckered out. playing in the snow is hard work!-

hope everyone is warm, no matter where you are!

sweetness~

when you look outside in the morning and see 5 more inches of snow that were not there when you went to bed last night.
moments like this make you smile.

good

to the last

drop!

saturday morning silly~

today while getting ready to attack our backed up laundry (thanks to a broken dryer-excuse the mess please) we do what comes naturally in this house. avoid the work to have a little fun=) this time it came in the form of a dance party.

i thought that it was cute enough to post. i love kaels face in a couple different places. he can be so funny. cullan is just cutting a rug. they both love to dance. however you would never guess that from kael in this video!

happy saturday everyone!

baby update~

31 WEEKS AND COUNTING!
well i had my appointment yesterday and things went pretty well. the babys heart rate was in a normal range and my doctor said that everything looked pretty good for the most part.
i was a little caught of guard that at 31 weeks we were already starting to talk about the size of the baby. i know that my husbands side of the family has very large babies. for goodness sake his sister was 11 lbs 2oz. but at thirty one weeks. so we discussed my glucose test results which came back fine. however she said that she really wants me to continue to eat pretty healthy because the baby is already measuring a little ahead of schedule. i guess the cut off for regular delivery is 10 lbs. due to the fact that cullan was 9.2 at 41 weeks and kael was 9.2 at 38 weeks doesn't really look that great that this lil one will be to small =) at my next appointment she is going to do an ultrasound to start a baseline and from here on out she will be checking her size on a regular basis. i guess its time to start getting things together. next weekend we are heading out to get a car seat and a few other baby things!!

a busy day~

today was a crazy busy day for us. it is my week to teach mom school. so we did our lesson. had a yummy orange snack. goldfish and tangerines. orange is our color for the week. afterwards we played this- this is one of the best games for kids my ages. they love it. so we played a bunch of times.
we didn't have enough nets for everyone so this cutie used a hat!

look at those smiles
kael is so funny. no clothes and screaming. thats my boy. i love his face!
after everyone left we had some lunch.
next on the agenda.
dance party with daddy.
(WARNING-PLEASE EXCUSE THE DIRTY LAUNDRY. OUR DRYER BROKE SO WE ARE A LITTLE BEHIND=(

this first one is of garran teaching the boys how to be a crazy man dance.

then just crazy dancing!
after that i went to spend the day at the hospital with my friend mandy to visit our friend stacy. she has been having some parathyroid issues and so we took her a goodie basket and stayed and chatted for awhile. we are hoping she gets some good news soon.
tomorrow i have a doctors appointment. i am excited about it. we are nearing the end.
about seven more weeks! i will post an update when i get a chance.

slow down daddy~

last night we were putting the boys to bed. cullan has started to realize that if he says he has to use the bathroom he can stay up a little later. especially if he really drags it out. so anyways of course right after we put the boys in their beds, cullan says he needs to go potty. he sits in there for about 5 minutes and then this is what i hear from my bedroom.
garran enters: alright buddy, i think your done time for bed.
cullan: WOE WOE WOE DAD SLOW DOWN. I not done going potty!
i started laughing so hard. garran came in and said "and just what do you think you are laughing at-he gets his sassy-ness from you!"

a sunbeam~

well its official. as hard as it is for me to think cullan is old enough to be in primary and not in nursery any more, it is true. today was his first official day as a sunbeam and getting to go to the big kids class. he had a few problems with missing the wonderful nursery leader. he really loves her. but i am so thankful that he has such a great teacher in sunbeams. she is super patient and even called me today to say how much she liked having him in her class. garran and i stayed & took turns staying with him today, but i am hoping that things get better next week. sometimes it just takes a little time to get used to change. today they made crowns and i just happen to have my little point and shoot camera with me. so after church i snapped a quick shot of him. he is getting so big.

my apologies~

a few post ago i had made a mistake in the post entitled "DATE NIGHT". tonight i was told of my error and thought that i would post a retraction to appease a certain man (MD)!! =)
so for the record...
the other night we went to dinner with our friend mandy and the man that she is in a relationship with. (or as garran would put it her "hunk a hunk a burnin love!) we had a wonderful time and really enjoyed meeting him and getting to know him.
hope this clears up any confusion =)

where they come up with it~

tonight while out running errands cullan says to me from his seat in the van.
"look mommy, stinky sponge mellows"
i was a little confused. for a while now he likes to refer to marsh mellows as sponge mellows.
however we were not near any "sponge mellows"
the best we could come up with was that the snow is white like marsh mellows and it has gotten all dark and yucky due to traffic.
maybe those are the stinky sponge mellows that he was talking about!

date night~

tonight we went out with our friend mandy and her friend matt for dinner. we had a nice time talking and laughing. i meant to ask mandy to take a picture of us, just because we don't get out much, but of course i forgot. we had to stop at menards on the way home and i remembered i wanted to get a picture together. so here we are in the aisle of menards buying some screws to fix a kitchen chair and the boys bunk beds. ( i hate these kind b/c i never come out well. i am always the one holding the camera, so i think i look funky) anyways that is what we did. at least i have a quick snap shot to remember the night!!

thanks matt and mandy for a fun dinner. we had a great time!

our story

My photo

I love the saying "the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother". My husband does an amazing job of that. I am truly married to my best friend. We laugh often and try to see the best in every situation, or at least find the humor in it. We have four beautiful children. Cullan (7) Kael (6) Briea (3) and Ayla (2). We are currently living in Illinois while Garran attends Grad School. He is a talented print maker and is enjoying his time here. He has a website if you are interested. www.garrangillespie.com Right now we are living every day to the fullest and trying to have as much fun as possible along the way!!

This explains why I blog so much RIGHT?

“Your journal is your autobiography, so it should be kept carefully. You are unique, and there may be incidents in your experience that are more noble and praiseworthy in their way than those recorded in any other life. …
“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved?”
Elder Spencer W Kimball!

I need to read this every morning!

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It all works out in the end. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."
